'Tis the season for madness high NBA totals, apparently.
Seemingly every few days, another strikingly high over/under appears on the board that sends us into the history books to find out exactly where it falls on the all-time list. In fact, of the six games in our database (since 2005) to close with a total of 245 or higher, four have come in just the past 37 days.
A fifth looks to be on track for tonight by way of Timberwolves vs. Rockets (8 p.m. ET).

At the time of writing, the total of 246.5 would put this game in a tie for third place since 2005, and would be Minnesota's third time in the 245-plus club in its past five games. Again, there have been just six such games over the past 14 years.
Bettors haven't exactly fallen in love with the idea of expecting such a heavy offensive output, as just 30% have taken the over since this line opened. But it's not just casual bettors that have found their way to this total.
Timberwolves vs. Rockets Over/Under, Sharp Betting Pick
As mentioned, the current line sits at 246.5, but it wasn't always so high. In fact, oddsmakers at PointsBet — and around much of the market — opened the line just shy of the exclusive club (at 244.5). And even with most bettors taking the under, they've been forced to raise the total by a full two points.
As you probably could've guessed, sharps have been behind that reverse line movement as evidenced by money percentages and Sports Insights Bet Signals.
The 30% backing of the over has generated exactly half of the money landing on the total, meaning bigger bettors — the ones more likely to be sharps — are expecting even more points than the already high projected total.
Confirming that those bigger bets are, in fact, coming from pro bettors, a pair of Sports Insights Bet Signals — indicators of market movement caused by sharp action — have hit the over (at 244.5 and 245), getting oddsmakers to readjust up to the current line.
