Jazz vs Warriors NBA Preview, Predictions
I'm taking the over in this game, and parlaying it with the Jazz to cover the first-quarter spread.
The over/under is 239.5, and I like that number.
The first-quarter spread for Utah isn’t open at every book yet and the numbers vary, but based on the full-game spread it will land around +3.5 or +5.
Let me talk through why I like each piece, and then why I like them parlayed together.
The Jazz defense has gone to hell in a handbasket. Their opponent team totals over the last eight games are a lot of numbers, but the average is over 130.
The defense is just truly terrible right now. And the Warriors are 12-6 to the over this season.
You don’t immediately think of the Warriors as a classic over team, but they’ve been one this year.
Their defense doesn’t seem like it’s fully clicking, and on the offensive side Stephen Curry is doing his thing.
So, this is a game where I just like the over in general.
As for the first-quarter part of this, the Jazz are 9–6 in first-quarter spreads this season.
They tend to start games strong and then fade down the stretch. If you’ve been live betting them, you’ve gotten good opportunities.
On the flip side, the Warriors have been off to slow starts all season and are 6-12 in first quarters.
Jazz vs Warriors NBA Prediction, Betting Analysis
Where I really like combining these two is that it makes sense that if the Jazz are hanging around in the first quarter, or even have the lead after one, that’s going to lead to a higher-scoring game.
The more the Jazz are in the game, the more likely it is that it turns into a high-scoring pace and goes over.
I think those two things correlate very closely. The Jazz will also be on a back-to-back, so the first quarter is when their legs are going to be decent before they fade, while the Warriors theoretically run it up in the second half.
But we get the first-quarter cover before that happens.
It’s a little convoluted and a little funky, but it’s a correlated play that won’t be priced like one, with two bets I was already considering from the same game.
So, I’m combining them. I like the over paired with the Jazz first-quarter spread.
For what it’s worth, the Jazz are 25th in road over rate this season and the Warriors are 16th at home, and their defense is way ahead of their offense right now.
It’s funny because Jimmy Butler complained about their defense recently, and I’m thinking: you guys don’t have any firepower.
Jazz vs Warriors Best Bets
