Georgetown is looking to replicate its miraculous Big East Tournament run from 2021 as it takes on the Villanova Wildcats at Madison Square Garden.

I hate to break it to Georgetown fans, but if you were looking for another miraculous run, I don't think it's going to happen.

Villanova, however, is fully capable of making a deep run in this event. The Wildcats have had a disappointing season thus far, but with Justin Moore back, they've been a remarkably different basketball team.

Here's how I'm betting Georgetown vs. Villanova.

Georgetown Hoyas

This may be the last time Patrick Ewing coaches the Hoyas.

The Hoyas don't do many things well, as they rank outside the top 180 in adjusted offense, adjusted defense and free-throw percentage.

Guards Primo Spears and Brandon Murray continue to be the lone bright spots on this Hoyas squad, and they need to put up huge games here if the Hoyas have any shot at stealing a win.

The Hoyas don't shoot the ball well from behind the arc, and they straight up do not get many stops on the defensive end of the floor. I have a hard time believing that this particular matchup will change any of this.

Villanova Wildcats

I know the Jay Wright era is over, but this Wildcats team can make some noise in this Big East Tournament.

Luckily for them, they start off with a soft matchup against the Hoyas.

As I mentioned in the intro, this Villanova team is completely different with Moore on the floor. Moore seems to be playing his regular minutes after his injury, so we shouldn't expect him to be limited throughout this tournament.

Despite the mediocre record, the Wildcats do a lot of things extremely well. They're the No. 1 team in the country in free-throw shooting, which is remarkable given their overall record.

Nova also finds itself inside the top 100 in both offensive and defensive efficiency.

The one area of concern in this particular matchup is earning second chances, as the Wildcats rank in the bottom 300s in grabbing offensive rebounds.

The Cats defeated the Hoyas in both of their regular season matchups, but failed to cover in the most recent game as 13.5-point favorites (77-73 victory).

This is an experienced Nova squad, so this leads me to believe it's going to come out with an inspired effort, knowing it has to run the table.

Georgetown vs Villanova Betting Pick

I'm not going to overreact to the poor performance against the Huskies, so I will still take Villanova in this spot.

I think this Georgetown team has completely quit, which we saw in its 40-point loss at Creighton last week. I think this program is completely fed up with what has gone on the past two seasons, so a new coach and culture is imminent.

I have full confidence that we'll get a much more focused Villanova team here, and I expect the Cats to exploit Georgetown's awful defense.

Don't overthink this. Take the points with the Cats, as I expect them to roll.

Pick: Villanova -10 (Play to -11)
