Broncos vs Panthers NFL Week 9 Preview
This is the ultimate letdown spot for the Broncos, who are coming off an emotional victory over the rival Chiefs and now have to navigate a tricky cross-country trip.
More importantly, Bo Nix is still difficult to trust as a starting quarterback in this league. He showed some positive signs against the Chiefs, notably actually throwing the ball down field against a quality defense.
Nix, however, has struggled to string together consistent, professional performances, and the playcalling hasn't done him many favors so it's tough to know what we'll get from him despite what appears to be a soft matchup.
The Panthers enter this matchup coming off a mini-bye.
While they didn't look particularly sharp in their recent outing against the Packers on Thursday Night Football, the Panthers' front office made a huge change by dismissing defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.
Historically, a mid-season coaching change can inject a brief spark, and interim defensive coordinator Todd Walsh is fully expected to bring a much heavier blitz packages.
That type of schematic shift, backed by extra rest, makes the Panthers an intriguing live underdog in this spot.
Broncos vs Panthers Prediction, Betting Analysis
I wouldn't have made this line three points — my true number sits closer to Broncos -2.5.
We are paying a premium on the Broncos following a peak emotional win, completely ignoring the fact that they are stepping into a glaring scheduling disadvantage against a rested Carolina team.
The situational spot heavily favors the Panthers. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith in NFL betting during November, and fading a suspect quarterback in a prime letdown spot is exactly how you do it.
Pick: Panthers Moneyline (+122)
