We're looking for a Dolphins vs. Texans pick in the second NFL preseason game on Saturday.

Miami quarterbacks Mike White and Skylar Thompson look to rebound after combining for three interceptions against the Falcons. Meanwhile, Texans fans will get their first taste of C.J. Stroud, who debuted last week on the road against the Patriots.

Continue reading below as I break down the Dolphins vs. Texans odds and make a pick.

Dolphins vs. Texans

Matchup Analysis

For the Dolphins, we should we see Mike White and Skylar Thompson take the majority of snaps. Head coach Mike McDaniel didn’t rule out the possibility of Tua Tagovailoa playing, but it seems unlikely Tagovailoa would log more than a drive or two if he got action.

White and Thompson are solid depth options behind Tagovailoa on paper, but both struggled last week against the Falcons.

Thompson threw two interceptions and White threw one as the Dolphins only managed to put up three points. Expect improvement this time around given it would be quite hard to perform much worse.

Once again, C.J. Stroud gets the start for the Texans. He played in two drives against the Patriots and struggled mightily, throwing an interception and taking multiple big hits.

I anticipate Stroud plays a few more drives in this game as the Texans likely want to see how he bounces back from an underwhelming debut.

Like Miami, Houston has a respectable QB depth chart with Davis Mills and Case Keenum backing up Stroud. Mills and Keenum were solid in Week 1 — both threw for a touchdown and had passer ratings north of 100.

Mills and Keenum should handle around three quarters while Stroud gets most — if not all — of the first quarter.

Betting Picks & Predictions

With the Dolphins coming off a tough loss, I anticipate their starters get more action in Week 2. I also expect to see better performances from Mike White and Skylar Thompson.

Look for Mike McDaniel to generate easy throws for his quarterbacks. Despite struggling in their preseason debut, I have more respect for Thompson/White then I do for Mills/Keenum.

Thus, I'm backing the Dolphins as underdogs.
