In surprising news, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will reportedly miss today's game against the Chicago Bears due to a back injury.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, team doctors are holding Stafford out due to broken bones in his back.

With Stafford's streak of 136 consecutive starts apparently ending, backup quarterback Jeff Driskel will be under center today for Detroit.

As expected, this news had a major effect on betting odds for today's Lions vs. Bears matchup.

As recently as 9:20 a.m. ET today, the Bears were 2.5-point favorites at PointsBet Sportsbook in New Jersey. The over/under sat at 41, as well.

But with Stafford now out and Driskel getting the start, Chicago has reopened at -6.5 at PointsBet. Oddsmakers are also expecting scoring to be more difficult as evidenced by the latest over/under of 39.

Stafford's injury is also big for fantasy football players. If you were counting on him to start today, The Action Network's Sean Koerner recommends New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones as his top streamer at the position for Week 10.

At the time of writing, Jones is rostered in just 38% of ESPN fantasy football leagues.
