New York Giants Betting Preview: The Biggest Frauds in the NFL

The Giants are currently sitting at 3-1-1, but let me be clear: this is the most fraudulent winning record in the National Football League. They could easily — and probably should — be 1-4.

Look at New York's last four games since getting blown out by the Rams.

The Giants beat the Titans (who fumbled at the goal line with a chance to win), beat the Cardinals (who threw a red-zone pick while driving for the win), they lost to the Saints 34-27 (who were blowing them out before a late surge), and they tied the Commanders (who went into turtle mode and forgot to kick a game-winning field goal).

The Giants have played the easiest schedule in the league by a country mile — and to make matters worse, their offense is completely broken without Jaxson Dart.

Since Dart went down, the Giants rank 31st in the NFL in rush success rate. Because they have absolutely no rushing attack, J.J. McCarthy — taking over for the benched Jameis Winston — is going to be forced to drop back and win this game with his arm.

McCarthy has been miserable in his career when under pressure, currently sporting a -10% completion percentage over expectation (CPOE) when the pocket collapses. He hasn't has much time to learn the Giants' playbook, and the offense is already entirely disjointed.

Houston Texans Betting Preview: Season on the Line

The Texans are coming off a season-saving win and traveling back from the London game, but this does not qualify as a flat spot.

There is a real sense of urgency for the Texans: they still need to win to keep their season alive after yet another slow start to the year.

Unlike the Giants, Houston has played a top-10 schedule, facing the Bills, Bengals, Cowboys, Jaguars, Colts, and Titans. The Texans are also a couple of bad bounces away from having four or five wins.

C.J. Stroud is playing at a very high level right now, looking like the rookie-year version of himself. He ranks in the top 10 in nearly every passing metric and sits third in the NFL in air yards, actively pushing the ball down the field.

Most importantly, Stroud finally has his full complement of weapons. He operated without Nico Collins for a stretch, but now he has also Marvin Harrison Jr. and potentially Tank Dell returning.

Defensively, this Texans unit is incredibly salty and built to shut down bad, inexperienced quarterbacks like J.J. McCarthy.

Giants vs Texans Prediction, Betting Analysis

I view this game as an absolute burial of the Giants.

You have a massive strength-of-schedule disparity between a battle-tested Texans squad and a fraudulent Giants team that has feasted on incompetent opponents making timely errors.

Without a functional run game, J.J. McCarthy is going to drop back into a world of hurt against the Texans' pass rush.

Meanwhile, C.J. Stroud should have a field day against a bad Giants secondary, potentially with some weather assistance.

I expect a 30-13 blowout for the Texans so I'm laying the double digits with Houston.

Pick: Texans -10.5 (-110)
