The NHL has a decent-sized slate tonight, so why not try to capitalize on hitting on some anytime goal scorers?
There are four players tonight that I'm zeroing in on, and they're some of the more active players in the league in a 10-game span. We've done fairly well in the anytime goal scorer series, so let's capitalize again!
Let's dive into my NHL Anytime Goal Scorer picks, prediction, and odds for Saturday, January 24.

Canadiens vs. Bruins
There have been a handful of Bruins who have been dominating play as of late, but the one player that I’m honing in on is Fraser Minten.
Minten is currently enjoying the best season of his young professional career, and he’s heating up in this cold front.
In January, he registered eight points on a line with Boston’s top goal scorer, Morgan Geekie.
In his past 10 games, he’s played to a solid 3.1 expected goals, but what has made him stand out is his ability to generate high-danger opportunities. Overall, he’s created seven, which is tied for seventh league-wide in this stretch and has a high danger expected goals rate of 2.28.
He’s also netted six goals as well, which is tied for fourth, but he hasn’t found the same amount of luck he did when it was earlier in the month.
Minten is still finding his way in the right areas; it’s just about converting and playing against the Montreal Canadiens, who are 23rd in goals against above expected in this 10-game stretch. There’s a real chance for Minten to get on the board again.
I’m incredibly bearish on Montreal’s goaltending, whether it be Sam Montembeault, Jakub Dobes, or Jacob Fowler, who have been struggling mightily all season.
Pick: Fraser Minten Anytime Goal Scorer (+500)
Red Wings vs. Jets
Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that Jonathan Toews is playing for another team other than the Chicago Blackhawks.
But playing for his hometown Winnipeg Jets makes all the more sense.
Toews’ return to the NHL has started slowly in the first four months of the season, but he’s quickly found his way again. By no means is he the elite two-way center he was in his prime, but at least he’s not sticking out like a sore thumb anymore.
In fact, he’s becoming a solid contributor to the Jets, who have recorded points in six of their past seven games.
When 2026 hit our calendars, Toews had awoken. He’s registered eight points, which is just under half of his season-long total, so you can believe that the “Tazer” is starting to heat up.
Along with that, he’s playing to a 1.83 expected goals per 60 minutes, and has generated nine high danger chances in the past 10 games, which is in the top one percent of all players.
Of course, we all remember Toews as mainly a playmaker with the Blackhawks, so if there were one way to approach this, it would be to give him over 0.5 points. But I’ve been encouraged by Winnipeg’s play.
The Jets will face the Red Wings, who are running hot themselves, but I think banking on Toews to score a goal here is a solid move. Feel free to bet on 0.5 points to hedge as well.
Pick: Jonathan Toews Anytime Goal Scorer (+320)
Panthers vs. Wild
On Hockey Day in Minnesota, it would feel rude not to pick someone on the Minnesota Wild to score tonight.
Our Nick Griffith covered tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers, so if you want to celebrate accordingly, tail him tonight!
I think people tend to forget that Vladimir Tarasenko was one of the NHL’s best goal scorers for a while before he started hopping to other teams.
This isn’t any different. He may not be the laser sniper that he was when with the Blues, but Vlad can still rip it.
In the past four games, he’s netted five goals, including playing to a 1.63 expected goals per 60 minutes in the past 10 games. But not only that, he’s setting himself up nicely. He’s registered six high danger shots and posted a 3.09 high danger expected goals, which is 11th leaguewide in the 10-game span.
Minnesota’s opponents, the Panthers, have had one of the more inconsistent seasons – especially coming off back-to-back Stanley Cups. But the problem is that Matthew Tkachuk has been gone for most of the season and the goaltending has suffered.
Sergei Bobrovsky is getting up there in age and he has played a lot of hockey, and it’s starting to show. In the past 10 games, he’s playing to a -6.5 GSAx, which is among the worst out of all goalies.
I think he’ll be too slow for the Tank’s ripper, which is why I’m happy to back Tarasenko.
Pick: Vladimir Tarasenko Anytime Goal Scorer (+290)
Capitals vs. Oilers
This is a hot-hand pick, but Justin Sourdif has been on a completely different level since getting put on a line with Tom Wilson and Aliaksei Protas.
Tonight, the Washington Capitals take on the Edmonton Oilers, who were completely embarrassed (and embarrassed me when I took the puck line on them) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
I don’t think the Oilers are going to let that slide, as angering Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl is always a problem for the following team. We may not be in the playoffs just yet, but after a loss in the postseason, is always when we see McDavid at his best, so this could be a big game for Edmonton.
Regardless, let’s not rule out the Capitals, who are coming off a heated win against the Calgary Flames, with Wilson being at the center of it.
Wilson is one of the biggest disruptors in the league, which opens up opportunities for his linemates.
Well, here’s Sourdif as one of the league’s most dominant players right now, tying for seventh in high danger chances, and ninth with a 3.19 high danger expected goals rate.
I think if there’s ever a time for a player to net a goal, it’s against the Oilers, who have a brutal tandem of Tristan Jarry and Connor Ingram in net.
Let’s back Sourdif tonight in the late-night slate.
