Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers will be played tonight at 8 p.m. ET at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It will be broadcast on TNT, TruTV and streamed on Max.
If Game 1 was any indication of what’s to come, we may have ourselves another seven-game series. Rogers Place was rocking, especially after Leon Draisaitl sniped the winning goal with 31 seconds left in overtime. So, what can we expect for Game 2?

Florida Panthers Preview: Learning From Their Mistakes
You have to wonder what this loss did to the psyche of the Panthers.
Florida has never been a team to fold when the going gets tough, but dropping a 3-1 lead only to lose in overtime Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals is as low as you can make it.
By doing that, it hands the Oilers all the momentum.
What’s crazy is that the Panthers were outplayed for most of the game. They converted on their high danger opportunities, but the Oilers were exceptional for the majority of the game.
And once Stuart Skinner got past the Stanley Cup jitters, he settled in just fine.
There were a few goals that Sergei Bobrovsky would probably like to have back. First, the goal from Viktor Arvidsson, and in Bob’s defense, Arvidsson pulls up loading up his slapper quite often.
The other being from Mattias Ekholm. Both goals allowed were shots that he’s typically saving and maybe we’re having a different discussion.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Sam Bennett, a player no one is as hot as. The forward has made history scoring 12 goals in a single preseason – the most by any Panthers in history.
There will need to be more from Florida’s big dogs, most notably Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Reinhart, both of whom were essentially invisible all game. Carter Verhaeghe and Aleksander Barkov seemed to lead the charge, but the Panthers aren’t completing the back-to-back with Tkachuk and Reinhart taking a back seat.
Edmonton Oilers Preview: Recreating Game 1's Magic
Northern Alberta was pure pandemonium.
From Rogers Place rocking, to Jake Walman's evil laughing at Tomas Nosek’s delay of game penalty, to Draisaitl blowing the roof off the building.
The Oilers looked determined and seemed to be in comfortable territory when they were down 3-1, as they came back for a franchise-leading third time from a multi-goal deficit.
For the Oilers, it’s just another day at the office.
No one likes to go down early, but Edmonton has proven that it’s a resilient group and it believes in the group it rolls out. After all, it came back from a 3-0 series deficit during the last Stanley Cup Final.
What really stood out to me, though, was how physical Edmonton was throughout Game 1. Everyone was throwing the body around at a rapid rate, and it seemed like Florida wasn’t ready for it.
Not only that, Skinner looked like a beauty once he got his legs under him. That’s the Stuart Skinner experience, folks. It’s going to be a bumpy ride, but sometimes you walk off the ride not feeling sick to your stomach.
But this time, he was feeling his oats, and he looked good.
His GSAx was six points better than Bobrovsky's, and he did a really solid job controlling his rebounds – something that the Panthers typically prey on.
If Skinner continues down that road, with the Oilers giving him ample support in front of him, they could finally capture Lord Stanley’s Cup.
Oilers vs. Panthers Best Bet
When I saw three goals in the first period in Game 1, I knew my under pick was mush.
This time, I’m going to be jumping off the board and setting my eyes on Evander Kane.
Kane was very noticeable throughout the game, throwing his body around and making Bobrovsky’s life miserable with his play in front of the net. He was on the ice for two of Edmonton’s goals.
Looking through the numbers, his underlying stats were promising, ranking fourth on the team in expected goals, fourth in PDO, and he generated the second most high danger chances.
The way this series may go, it plays right into Kane’s strengths. And if the numbers tell us one thing, his time may be coming sooner than later.
