Action App Data Shows Users Believe Manchester City’s Champions League Success Could Finally Happen This Year

As the most prestigious club tournament, the Champions League approaches its conclusion, we delved into the vast pool of data available on the Action App to determine which teams have been favored by bettors across all US states in the late stages of the tournament.

Our analysis encompassed data from after the latest round of knockout fixtures, from March 16th until April 3rd. 

Here’s what we found:

• Manchester City is the top-picked team in most states by a landslide. 64% of all states have Manchester City as the favorite to win.
• Napoli is the second-most-picked team, with 8% of all states picking them as their favorite to win. 
• Real Madrid and Benfica are the top picks in only 4% of all states.
• German powerhouse, Bayern Munich is the top pick in 2% of all states. 

Bettors and Sportsbooks Fading Perennial Champions League Winners Real Madrid

It is noteworthy that none of the American states has selected AC Milan, Chelsea, or Inter Milan as their top pick to win. Despite Manchester City never having succeeded in winning the tournament, and Real Madrid having won it a record 14 times, more bettors across the US have chosen Manchester City as their pick to win. This comes on the heels of Real Madrid showing its top form, having knocked out Liverpool in the previous round with relative ease.

The selections recorded on the Action App align with the bookmakers' predictions; FanDuel considers Manchester City the favorite to win, with +220 odds as the outright winner, while they offer +380 odds for Napoli to hoist the trophy. Real Madrid comes in a distant third place at +700 odds to claim the 2022/23 Champions League title.

Only time will tell whether FanDuel and the bettors will be correct in their backing of Manchester City. One thing is certain, though, that Real Madrid's experience will push whatever team they face to its limits, providing fans and bettors with plenty of excitement.
