Diamondbacks vs White Sox Preview
The Diamondbacks have climbed to the second spot among MLB lineups against right-handed pitching with a 121 wRC+, only trailing the mighty Dodgers (125) and ahead of the Yankees (117).
Overall, they rank 4th with a 114 wRC+.
When they have a chance to pound a rival pitcher, they take it. Arizona pummeled the Rockies with 14 runs last Friday, and they did the same to these White Sox in the first game of the series on Monday with 10 runs.
On Wednesday, they face Sean Burke, whose expected ERA and FIP suggest negative regression. Given that his current stats in those departments aren't already solid, he could be in for a short afternoon outing.
He has already allowed five or more runs in four starts this year, including a seven-run beating on June 11 against the Astros.
The White Sox cannot be praised for their run production.
They rank 28th among MLB lineups in wRC+ (78), 30th in average (.219), and 29th in ISO (.122).
If we expect runs for the over, most of them will have to come from the Arizona lineup.
However, Chicago is also bound to produce something, as they have only scored one run combined in the previous two games of this series.
Chicago will have a chance at fighting back since the Diamondbacks will send Zac Gallen to the mound. He has been atrocious in his past three starts. He gave up four runs to the Reds and Padres, and got thrashed by the Rockies for seven runs at Coors Field in his last outing.
Gallen's season has been underwhelming, and there are no signs of positive regression.
Diamondbacks vs White Sox Prediction, Betting Analysis
Both pitchers are struggling, and the Diamondbacks' offense has been performing well, especially against right-handed pitching.
Pavin Smith and Ketel Marte both have an OPS above .890 over the past two weeks.
Look for Arizona to keep going and the White Sox bats to show signs of life.
Pick: Over 8.5 (-110, BetMGM)
