Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview: Great Matchup Against Cortes
The Dodgers wound up on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel in last night's matchup, but tonight, they'll have a huge edge on the mound as they are set to face the Padres' Nestor Cortes.
San Diego acquired Cortes after an injury-riddled first half with Milwaukee, where he posted a 9.00 ERA in two starts. Well, things have not gone much better in his three starts with the Padres.
He comes in with a 4.20 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over his last three starts and has not shown any signs of improvement.
Cortes' command issues have put him behind the 8-ball as he's walked hitters and allowed a great deal of hard contact.
Those are not qualities you want to take into a start against a Dodgers' lineup that ranks first in BABIP and eighth in wRC+ and OPS over the last month.

As for the Padres, they come into this matchup riding high after yesterday's win, but they will need their lineup to step up and stay hot. San Diego has arguably been the hottest lineup in baseball over the last month.
The Padres rank first in batting average, OBP, and BABIP against righties in the last 30 days. However, tonight they are not facing just any right-hander as Tyler Glasnow will take the ball for Los Angeles.
Glasnow has had some blips with his control since returning from the injured list, but has also flashed elite swing and miss stuff. If his command is honed in tonight, he has the potential to shut down this Padres lineup.
Glasnow's xBA and strikeout rate sit in the 91st percentile. He profiles as the pitcher who can combat this high-contact lineup that the Padres roll out.
