Today we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool. This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI because it combines two separate half-innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to generate a better edge and tailor the bet to your preferences.

Our first NRFI selection opens with the commanding ace of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Zac Gallen. This year, Gallen has a striking NRFI record of 8–2, which bolsters his cumulative NRFI record to an impressive 34–6 since 2022. This astounding record owes much to Gallen's exceptional performance against leadoff hitters, whom he has permitted a mere .172 average with just five hits in 29 at-bats this season. Notably, Gallen has also achieved his highest strikeout split this season with 12 strikeouts against rival teams' leadoff hitters.

Historically, Gallen has demonstrated his prowess against a number of Philadelphia's hitters, holding firm against JT Realmuto (0–3), Alec Bohm (0–3), Trea Turner (4–15), Kyle Schwarber (1–5) and Bryce Harper (3–9). So far in first innings at home this season, the Phillies rank third-worst with a dismal .195 average and just a meager 16 hits in 88 plate appearances. This is further exacerbated by their high Strikeout Rate of 30.7%. which is the worst in baseball.

Miami Marlins ace and former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara is equally commanding on the NRFI front. This season, Alcantara flaunts a flawless 9-0 NRFI record, which further extends his cumulative NRFI record to a commendable 35–6 since 2022. Alcantara showcases one of the finest averages in baseball when facing batters for the first time through the order, allowing just a .136 average on 12 hits in 77 at-bats this season.

In the past, much like Gallen, Alcantara has proven his mettle against the Rockies hitters, including Ryan McMahon (2–8), Jurickson Profar (0–5), Kris Bryant (1–8), Charlie Blackmon (3–8) and Randal Grichuk (0–3). It's also worth noting that McMahon is experiencing a current slump, with only four hits in his last 22 at-bats as he's batting a mere .182 over the past week.

This customized NRFI investment can be wagered at DraftKings for a price of -145 or at Barstool Sportsbook, where it stands at a slightly better -135 price.

As always, six outs to glory…
