Pirates vs Rockies Preview
Mitch Keller has been pitching very well, but if Paul Skenes got hit at Coors Field, so can he.
The Rockies offense had been awful this year despite playing in the most favorable park for any lineup.
And although they are still dead last in wRC+ with a 78 rating this season, this weekend they have managed to let loose even against Skenes, one of baseball's best pitchers.
Even if Keller contains the Rockies lineup early, the Pirates bullpen cannot be trusted. They rank 18th in ERA this season with 4.02 and just gave up 17 runs in two games at Coors Field this weekend.
The Pirates lineup is not great either, but can also profit from the park conditions and, better yet, the opposing pitching staff.
Colorado starter Bradley Blalock has a 12.00 ERA at home in three starts compared to his 3.00 ERA on the road. The Rockies bullpen ranks 28th in ERA with 5.19.
