Rangers vs Tigers MLB Betting Preview
The Rangers hit the road tonight after a tightly contested series against the New York Yankees, where their starting pitching was on full display against one of the most dangerous lineups in the American League.
They salvaged the final game of the series thanks to a dominant outing by Nathan Eovaldi, and if they are going to pick up their second consecutive win, they'll need MacKenzie Gore to follow Eovaldi's lead.
There's good reason to believe he'll do so, as Gore has quietly been one of the nastiest lefties in the league. He enters this start with a 4.35 ERA, but his 3.48 xFIP tells a better story of how he's pitched.
Gore's 31 percent strikeout rate and above-average flyball rate are set to play well in Comerica Park against a Tigers lineup that has not shown much power to this point.
Detroit holds a 108 wRC+ against lefties, but has done so with a .148 ISO and a 30.6 percent flyball rate. With Gore's stuff being tough to touch, and the Tigers not likely to drive his mistakes, we should see the lethal lefty keep the Rangers in this one.
We go from a starter due for much better results in Gore to one that is in line for his struggles to continue in Jack Flaherty. Flaherty enters with a 5.33 ERA and 5.59 xFIP.
We have seen a steep decline in Flaherty's command as he holds an unsightly 18 percent walk rate through a handful of starts. His inability to throw strikes has made his stuff more hittable, as his CSW is below average as well.
His flaws are primed to give the Rangers' lineup a big boost. Texas has done damage against righties this season, when they've been able to put the ball in play. Their strikeout rate is high, but their hard-hit and walk rates are even better.
If the Rangers can show some discipline early in the count, we should see them do damage against a regressing Flaherty early in this ball game.

Rangers vs Tigers Pick, Betting Analysis
While the Tigers are 10-2 at home this season, they are due for a loss, and this Rangers team is far better than their record shows. MacKenzie Gore has started to blossom at the big-league level, and he has a quality lineup in a great spot to give him support tonight.
A closer look at Detroit shows their flaws, and their lineup has yet to prove they can slug it out when a starter in the form of Flaherty gets knocked around.
Back the Rangers to take this series opener.
