Celtics vs 76ers NBA Playoffs Game 4 Preview
Boston Celtics Betting Preview, Analysis
Very simply, I think Game 3 was the chance for the Sixers, and they couldn’t quite make enough plays.
Teams that are up 2-1 after winning Game 3 on the road and are road favorites in Game 4 of more than 7 points are 18-4 SU, 15-7 ATS since 2003 via KillerSports.com. That’s an incredible trend.
The Celtics are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS under Joe Mazzulla with a chance to go up 3-1 as a road favorite.
Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview, Analysis
The Sixers had some matchup advantages they found in Game 2, but it was mostly shot variance.
That can bite them again in Game 4, but more accurately, Boston has enough sense to know how to combat what the Sixers brought defensively.
The Celtics made smarter reads and didn’t throw themselves into bad switches on either end as much last game.
Celtics vs 76ers Pick, Betting Analysis
Spread: Celtics -7.5
Tyrese Maxey has had a difficult time scoring against Derrick White in this series, and VJ Edgecombe faced tougher defensive matchups in Game 3.
Boston has too many angles they can exploit to gain an edge.
I thought the Sixers could take two games off Boston in this series, but they needed to win Game 3. Now they are up against it.
Total: Under 213.5
The Celtics were able to get a burst of scoring to get the win last game, but the real work is what they’ve done to the Sixers' offense, containing Maxey and shutting down the paint.
It’s a jump shot series for the Sixers — and they don’t have the shooters.
But on the other end, the Sixers’ defense has done surprisingly well. Jayson Tatum has been bottled up until the fourth quarter, and Jaylen Brown has had a hard time with various switch matchups.
Shooting variance makes this a riskier play, but I absolutely lean towards the under based on the success the Sixers’ wings have had against the Celtics.
Player Prop: Nikola Vucevic Over 0.5 Three-Pointers Made
Nikola Vucevic has made at least one three-pointer in five straight games — and at an 81% clip this season.
Vucevic will play, the Celtics have shown they want him on the floor against Andre Drummond to combat on the defensive glass.
He should continue to get open looks with Drummond in drop-coverage, and Vuc is good enough to space the floor.
Player Prop: Quentin Grimes Over 2.5 Rebounds
Quentin Grimes has gone over 2.5 rebounds in six straight games.
The Sixers need his offensive shot creation on the floor, and Kelly Oubre Jr. is questionable. He'll sneak in for this.
