Nuggets vs Jazz NBA Preview
After a bit of turbulence to begin the month, the Nuggets closed March winning six straight and eight of their last 10 games. They have played themselves into the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 1.5-game lead over the Timberwolves.
However, any more upward movement has been halted as the Thunder, Spurs, and Lakers have each won at least four games in a row.
One of those wins was a 135-129 victory over the Jazz last Friday. Nikola Jokic had 33 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists while Jamal Murray had 31 points and 14 assists.
The Nuggets' stars carried them as they have done for much of the season, though they have had a bit more difficulty with the Jazz than perhaps most would expect of late.
Though they have won the last nine meetings, the Nuggets have won by three and six points in the last two meetings.
The Jazz easily covered both games despite being in the tanking portion of their season. They are double-digit underdogs tonight for the ninth time in the last 10 matchups, this time back at home.
Speaking of the Jazz tanking, they have been doing a very good job of it. They have lost nine of their last 10 games and 14 of their last 15 games when facing non-tanking teams.
Tonight, they will be without Keyonte George, Isaiah Collier, Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jusuf Nurkic. However, their absences have provided opportunities to young players like Kyle Filipowski and Ace Bailey.
Filipowski is averaging 15.7 points and eight rebounds over his past 10 games. Bailey has cooled off a bit since scoring 25 points in three straight games, but he is still averaging 20.3 points off his last 10 games and has a 25% usage rate.
Nuggets vs Jazz Predictions, Betting Analysis
Tonight's total is a rather high and perhaps somewhat inflated, but that is the case for good reason.
Four of the last five meetings have had at least 247 points and three of them went over totals ranging from 239 to 251.5. The Nuggets have done their part scoring 128 points in each of those games.
The Jazz's defense has been the worst in the league when they were trying to win games and that has not changed over the last month. They have given up 124 points in eight of their last 10 games and seven of those games have gone over.
However, they have also scored 125 and 129 points in their last two games against Denver.
Should they flirt with 120 points, I don't believe this game will have much difficulty in going over tonight.
Pick: Over 249 (-105)
Nuggets vs Jazz Parlay Picks, Best Bets
Kyle Filipowski 20+ Points
A game with a total like this presents an opportunity for a lotto if the high-scoring game comes to fruition.
Filipowski has scored 18 points in three of his last four games against the Nuggets.
That includes 25 points on Friday, the first of three straight 20-point games for him.
I like him for a fourth 20-point game considering the Nuggets are 21st in points allowed to centers.
Nikola Jokic 10+ Assists
Jokic will likely get his as well with a point line of 24.5 tonight, but I am more interested in his assists.
He has recorded 10 assists in seven of his last 10 games and had 12 in his last game against Utah.
He has also recorded 11 or more assists in three of his last five games against Utah.
Jamal Murray 30+ Points
A few of them will go to Murray, who followed his 53-point game against Dallas with 31 against the Jazz last week.
Murray has scored at least 28 points in five of his last seven games against the Jazz.
If tonight's game is competitive again, Murray will go for his fourth 30-point game against the Jazz in the last three years.
Ace Bailey 15+ Points
Meanwhile, Bailey has scored 15 points in eight of his last 10 games, scoring exactly 15 against Denver.
He is averaging about 30 minutes a game of late, which should give him enough time to get there again.
