76ers vs Spurs NBA Preview

While the Final Four tipped off on Saturday, the best game of the day took place in Denver. In a battle of MVP candidates, Victor Wembanyama had 34 points, 18 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks — while Nikola Jokic had 40 points, eight rebounds, 13 assists and three blocks.

The Nuggets prevailed 136-134 in overtime, snapping San Antonio's 11-game winning streak and extending their own to eight games. With the loss and the Thunder's trouncing of the Jazz last night, the Spurs sit three games back of the top seed in the Western Conference with four games left for both teams.

Tonight, Wembanyama will face another former MVP as the Spurs welcome Joel Embiid and the 76ers to San Antonio. Embiid and Wembanyama have played each other just twice, one of the matchups being Embiid's 70-point game against San Antonio.

So, Wembanyama may be motivated tonight, but he has also averaged 25.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, four assists, and 5.8 blocks in four games against the 76ers.

The Sixers will also be motivated tonight for multiple reasons. In the last meeting, the Spurs came to Philadelphia and dominated the game from start to finish en route to a 131-91 victory.

The Sixers did not have Embiid or Paul George in that game. Both will be available tonight after Embiid sat out Saturday's loss to the Pistons on the second night of a back-to-back.

Additionally, Philadelphia needs a win to stay clear of the Play-In Tournament. They currently hold the sixth seed because they own the tiebreaker over the Raptors.

However, with just two games separating the 6-10 seeds in the Eastern Conference, there is much to be determined in the last week of the regular season.

The Spurs are not the only team playing well heading into this matchup; the Sixers have won six of their last 10 games. They will have Tyrese Maxey, who continues to play through a tendon strain in his right finger.

It will be just the 21st time this season that they have Embiid, Maxey, and George available. However, they will be without their backup point guard, Cameron Payne, who suffered a hamstring strain on Saturday.

76ers vs Spurs Predictions, Betting Analysis

Paul George Over 17.5 Points

After averaging 20 points or more in nine straight seasons, George has yet to reach that mark with the 76ers, but he has had a return to form since he returned from suspension. He has scored 18 points in each of his last six games while averaging 25.8 points per game.

Tonight, he will face the Spurs and their third-ranked defense. However, he scored 20 points in his last two games against the Timberwolves and Pistons, who are both top-five defensive units.

Maxey and Embiid were both available for four of the six games in that span. They will need George to continue being that third scorer in their offensive attack to have a shot at pulling the upset tonight.

Joel Embiid 25+ Points

Since Embiid returned from injury, he has scored 25 points in three of his last four games.

He is averaging 29.4 points per game over his last 10 while scoring 25 points in eight of those games.

Victor Wembanyama 40+ Points & Rebounds

Wembanyama has been making a late charge for league MVP, and while he says his offensive value is more than just points, he has scored 41, 41, and 34 points. He has scored 25 points in three of four career games against Philadelphia.

Wembanyama has also recorded 15 rebounds in each of his last six games while averaging 13.8 over his last 10 games. As a result, he is averaging 41.8 points and rebounds over his last 10 games, reaching 40 PR in five of the last eight games.

Devin Vassell 2+ Three-Pointers Made

Devin Vassell has made 10 3s in his last two games against the 76ers.

He enters tonight's game, having made two triples in seven of his past nine games.
