Trail Blazers vs Spurs NBA Playoffs Game 2 Preview

San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview

In the NBA Playoffs, 2-seeds are 20-5 straight up and 13-12 against the spread in Game 2 after covering in Game 1. That ATS number isn’t exactly sterling, but at least it provides some evidence that 2-seeds don’t always give it right back.

To be honest, I don’t know what to do with the spread. On the one hand, the Blazers have shot the ball well since the All-Star break, and then shot terribly in Game 1. On the other, the Spurs’ perimeter defense is excellent.

The Spurs also got an outlier 3-point shooting performance from Victor Wembanyama last game. However, Portland still hung around and had chances to cover the number, but the Blazers just couldn’t get shots to fall.

Portland Trail Blazers Betting Preview

I’m not interested in betting the spread in this game. Literally, nothing would surprise me.

You name it: maybe we'll get a close Blazers win against a stunned Spurs team where everything went so well initially, or a bigger Spurs blowout as their confidence grows, or a narrow Spurs win inside the number that presents real questions about Game 3. I could make the case for all of these scenarios.

I think it’s better to stay away from the spread, but my lean is to the Spurs based on their ability to handle the limited offensive weapons that the Blazers possess.

Trail Blazers vs Spurs Pick, Betting Analysis

Under 219.5

I think targeting the Under is a better play.

This total opened 221 and we’re tracking the majority of tickets and money on the Over — and yet, this number has moved down two points. That sharp action, combined with San Antonio’s rock solid perimeter defense gives me confidence they’ll keep the Blazers down.

Wembanyama likely won’t shoot that well from deep again, and Stephon Castle may struggle again as he continues to get his playoff feet wet.

Scoot Henderson Over 10.5 Points

Scoot Henderson was tremendous for the Blazers in the series opener. He looked as comfortable and confident as I’ve ever seen him last game.

He’s gone over this line in 80% of his last 20 games, and I think his skillset in transition will continue to be effective against the Spurs.

Trail Blazers vs Spurs Best Bets for Game 2

  • Under 219.5 (-110)
  • Scoot Henderson Over 10.5 Points (-105)
