Tennessee is going to beat Texas this week.

This is a straight fade of the Longhorns offense. They sit outside the top 100 in Havoc allowed, the offensive line isn’t protecting anyone, and running back Hollywood Smothers is on the injury report.

Smothers hasn’t been that effective anyway, with only two rushing attempts go for more than 15 yards. Same story for Raleek Brown, who’s been awful with about 2,1 yards after contact.

If the run game isn’t there, they'll need Arch Manning to bail them out. The problem is that Texas’ starting receivers have already totaled nine drops this season, including every starter but Cam Coleman. I also don’t get why Coleman isn’t leading the team in targets.

The bottom line is this offense isn’t sustaining drives. They’re oddly efficient in scoring opportunities when they get them, but they’re not getting many. And when you can’t run, you become extremely predictable.

It's also worth noting that Arch has recorded a turnover-worthy play in every game so far. Take Tennessee at home. Rocky Top.

I'm going with Jimmy Rogers and Iowa State to pick up a big home upset over a feisty Utah bunch.

It's time to put some respect on Rogers' name. He's way ahead of expectations in rebuilding an Iowa State program that Matt Campbell gutted in the offseason. Rogers did the same thing last year in Pullman, guiding Washington State to a seven-win season despite a brutal schedule.

Rogers has gone 9-1 against the spread in his last 10 games against FBS competition, covering by an absurd 15 points per game.

Rogers brought many players with him from Pullman to Ames, primarily on the defensive side of the ball, where seven of the top 15 in snap count are ex-Cougars. As a result, there was already a solid foundation and familiarity with defensive coordinator Jesse Bobbitt's (who came with Rogers from Wazzu) scheme.

On the other side, Utah lost all five starters along the offensive line, including two tackles selected in the first round of the NFL Draft (along with two others who signed with NFL teams).

The Utes also lost head coach Kyle Whittingham, offensive coordinator Jason Beck and a number of its best players to Michigan, including a few from a defense that had major issues last year.

Now, they're headed out on the road for the first time (with a first-time head coach) against real competition.

Give me the Cyclones in this spot.
