Hawai'i Warriors Betting Preview: No Time to Throw
It turns out, offensive line is pretty important. Last year, QB Micah Alejado, an explosive backfield and receiving corps, and an aggressive scheme managed to patch over most of the line woes.
But without the same pop in the backfield and down his two best receivers — Jackson Harris is now at LSU and Pofele Ashlock hasn't played due to a lingering injury — the deficiencies up front are incredibly noticeable.
Alejado toughed it out through injury last year after taking too many hits and getting sacked 23 times in 12 games. This year, the 5-foot-10 sophomore is already banged up. He had to exit the Stanford game due to injury, and reports indicate he's nursing that injury.
Hopefully a week off can get him (and Ashlock) ready to go again. But the offensive line is perhaps the worst in America, and that'll cost this team points, games and players.
Defensively, the Bows have done a great job keeping the lid on opposing offenses. Granted, that cast includes Stanford, UNLV, and New Mexico State, all non-explosive offenses thus far, but the second level has done its job.
The problem is, Hawaii's defensive line is undersized and inferior, leading to giving up a huge push in the run game and not getting anything going in the pass rush.
Truly, the only thing Hawaii does excellently is throw the ball, but even that phase is currently hamstrung without the presence of Ashlock.
Wyoming Cowboys Betting Preview: Nothing Works Anymore
Last week's concerns regarding Wyoming, and really all the concerns stemming from the post-Craig Bohl era, weren't quelled in a 24-10 loss to a really bad Central Michigan team.
Due to some inflation from the Mountain West and slow adjustments from power ratings, the market is just now realizing how truly dismal the 2026 Wyoming Cowboys are.
A slow pace on offense (28.9 seconds per play is 106th), conservative decision-making (dead last in late down Success Rate), and nothing going through the air (85th in yards per dropback) has led to a bummer team to watch (121st in net points per drive).
New offensive coordinator Christian Taylor is obviously not solely in charge of this offense, as it's looked and performed about the same as it has under Jay Sawvell. QB Tyler Hughes is not being utilized at all, and that's in spite of Taylor recruiting this kid out of high school to William & Mary.
The biggest issue post-Bohl is the defense has fallen clean off. After a finish of 82nd and 30th in points per drive allowed, this year's team is 112th in the measure.
That comes against offenses like Colorado State (at least a bit potent), Northern Colorado (73rd in the FCS in scoring), and Central Michigan. They've played bad offenses and still struggled to keep them off the scoreboard.
Sawvell can't lean on his defensive line to get anything done and, as a result, Wyoming doesn't create havoc or get off the field on late downs. This is a recipe for a 2-10 or worse football team in 2026.
And the market is just now starting to realize.

Both of these offenses in their current form stink. The posted total of 44.5 is pretty bullish on the ability of either team to cut through the Laramie wind and for Hawaii's offense to operate on the road.
Away from the Island, Hawaii is 17-40 over the last 10 seasons (plus Week 0 this year), and we've seen some recent stinkers like being bullied 55-10 by Utah State in 2024 (-2.5).
There's been zero indication that Ashlock returns for this game, even off the bye. Until he does, this offense will be stuck in neutral.
Even against a pretty poor defense, don't expect Hawaii's offense to find much success on the road. Central Michigan scored twice with QB runs, played as clean a game as it could (only 40 yards in penalties and zero turnovers), and the pace at which each team moved led them to 24 points.
Central Michigan leaned into the ground game and has a superior offensive and defensive line.
Hawaii's team total is necessitated by the math of being favored in a game with a total of 44.5. It's too high, and I don't trust this offense to produce both on the road and shorthanded.
Wyoming also stands as a great Underdog Round Robin Moneyline Parlay pick, as bad as it is.
