Broncos vs Cardinals NFL Week 7 Preview
The Broncos are sitting at 4-2, but they are undeniably one of the luckiest teams in the NFL right now. All four of their victories have come by one possession, and their two losses were absolute blowouts.
The Broncos easily could have lost to the Seahawks, who doubled them up in total yardage. Denver barely survived a completely broken Chargers team on the road, and needed big comeback efforts against both the Rams and the Jaguars.
Bo Nix has been terrible all season. I saw a great stat on X recently: Bo Nix is five letters long, which is basically the same length as his average depth of target (aDOT) — the absolute lowest mark in the NFL. He simply refuses to push the ball downfield.
Defensively, Denver is dealing with cluster injuries. The Broncos are likely going to be without both Patrick Surtain and Talanoa Hufanga, completely gutting the back end of their secondary.
This could also be a look-ahead spot with the Chiefs on deck.
The Cardinals are coming off a big win over the Rams, which our Evan Abrams noted was the biggest upset of the season so far with Arizona entering that game as a 12.5-point underdog.
Of course, that means we're not buying a bad Cardinals team at the bottom of the market. Still, their offense is capable of exploiting a battered Denver secondary. Marvin Harrison Jr. may be out of the fold, but the Cardinals still have viable weapons in Trey McBride, Michael Wilson, and a reborn Kendrick Bourne.
Yes, Arizona's defense isn't very good and consistently gives up points, but it has shown the ability to stay frisky in games and match opponents score for score.
With Denver's defense missing its top playmakers in the secondary, Jacoby Brissett should find plenty of open windows.
Broncos vs Cardinals Prediction, Betting Analysis
This is simply me wanting to fade Bo Nix.
I am going to force Nix to prove he can actually push the ball down the field and win a game by margin on the road, especially in a potential flat spot with Kansas City looming on deck for the Broncos.
Denver has been scraping by against bad teams with improbable late-game variance, and that luck is bound to run out.
Give me the Cardinals to win this game outright.
Pick: Cardinals Moneyline (+176)
