Seahawks -2.5 (-115)

Sunday Night Football looks to be a meaningful game for both teams involved, as the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks need a win to stay above .500, while the Chiefs are a perfect 5-0 and are starting to look like the Chiefs dynasty again.

What makes this a tough betting spot is that both teams enjoy fairly significant home-field advantages historically.

We’re in Seattle this time, which mostly explains them being favored by three points – my guess is it would be Chiefs -3 if the game was in Arrowhead.

However, this game is one of the more obvious “Luck Rankings” betting spots in a while. If it feels like the Seahawks are much better than their 3-3 record, it’s because they are.

The Seahawks been the unluckiest team in the league, with 4.6 expected wins compared to just three actual wins. The Chiefs have been somewhat lucky, with 4.1 expected wins to their five actual wins.

Plus, we can still get Seattle -2.5 at certain books/prediction markets, with BetRivers and Polymarket holding firm on that number for now. Give me the Seahawks -2.5, good down to -120.

Pick: Seahawks -2.5 (bet to -120); 54¢ at Polymarket

Under 42.5 (-112)

Neither offense has many advantages heading into Sunday Night Football and both will struggle to sustain drives in this game. This matchup features two of the best three defensive units in the NFL this season when it comes to Expected Points Added (EPA)

Patrick Mahomes will be without Rashee Rice once again, which means the quarterback will have to rely on Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy. The Seahawks have defended tight ends extremely well this season, ranking third in yards per target. Trey McBride and George Kittle were held to 41 and 24 yards against this defense, respectively.

The Chiefs' rushing attack with Kenneth Walker III has been incredible up to this point, but this is undoubtedly their most difficult matchup thus far. Seattle allows just 3.5 yards per carry and is second in the NFL in success rate. Maybe most importantly, the Seahawks also rank inside the top five in limiting explosives runs.

The Seahawks will have to score points on the shoulders of Sam Darnold with their running game broken.

Seattle's running backs are averaging 0.65 yards before contact on a per carry basis, which is the second-worst mark league wide. Over 20% of their rushes have failed to gain yardage this season.

Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Fleury implements a primarily zone-rushing attack and the Kansas City defense has been excellent defending zone run concepts through six games, allowing just 3.0 yards per carry.

Points will be at a premium here in a closely contested game. Twenty points scored may be enough to get the job done for either squad. Play this total down to 41.

Pick: Under 42.5 (-112); bet to 41

AJ Barner Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+290)

The Chiefs defense has been a revelation this season. They have excelled against wide receivers, allowing no touchdowns and the second-lowest receiving yards to the position.

However, the Chiefs have allowed four touchdowns to tight ends this season, which is tied for fifth most in the league.

AJ Barner is not only the primary tush push option in the Seahawks, but he also is second on the team in red-zone targets (six), including two within the 5-yard line despite having no receiving TDs. He scored a rushing touchdown in Week 2 against the Cardinals.

I have the true odds on a Barner anytime touchdown around +240.

Pick: AJ Barner Anytime Touchdown (+300 at bet365)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Over 89.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

It probably wouldn't be an exaggeration to say Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the Seahawks offense right now.

With the Chiefs allowing just 88.8 yards per game on the ground, the Seahawks will be forced to rely on the Sam Darnold-JSN connection in primetime.

Smith-Njigba has run 202 routes this season — an average of 33.6 per game — and is third in the NFL for targets per route run (TPRR). He’s had 100+ receiving yards in five of six games, with an average of 14.6 yards per catch.

With Smith-Njigba getting big volume (he averages 10.8 targets per game and had 16 targets in Week 6), he’s worth backing again here up to 94.5 yards.

Pick: Jaxon Smith-Njigba Over 89.5 Receiving Yards (-115, bet365)

Patrick Mahomes Over 31.5 Pass Attempts (-114)

By Sean Koerner

The Chiefs have only trailed 14% of the time this season, which is the second-lowest rate in the NFL entering Week 7. Of course, that could change tonight as the Seahawks are 3-point favorites on the spread, which gives us the potential of a trailing game script for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

If Seattle bottles up the player it knows best (Kenneth Walker III), that's going to lead to more pass attempts to Mahomes, who also hasn't scrambled as much this season.

The Seahawks defense utilizes a lot of Cover 6 in order to prevent explosive plays, so we could see a lot of dinking and dunking for Mahomes.

Pick: Patrick Mahomes Over 31.5 Pass Attempts (-114); bet to 32.5
