There should be plenty of drama Wednesday when Manchester United hosts Paris Saint-Germain in a crucial Champions League showdown at Old Trafford.

So much is at stake in this Group H fixture, with both sides looking to stake their respective claims to berth in the knockout stage of the competition.

Manchester United needs just one point over the course of its final two fixtures in group play. On the other side, PSG has a little more work to do on its road to the Round of 16 in the European showcase. However, a victory here would go a long way in the Parisians' quest to finish top two on the table.

That said, let's take a look at these clubs and see what's on deck.

Manchester United

The Red Devils have been fantastic in UCL play, going 3-0-1 for nine points through four matches. Most recently, Manchester United cruised to a 4-1 win over Turkish side İstanbul Başakşehir to grab a firm grip on first place.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice for the Red Devils, who followed that victory with a stunning, 3-2 triumph over Southampton in Premier League action.

Former PSG star Edinson Cavani came off the bench to bag two late goals, leading his new club to glory in the come-from-behind thriller.

Looking at the statistical data, Manchester United has put up the best numbers of the quartet. The Red Devils sit on 8.4 expected goals and 3.2 expected goals against, resulting in a +5.2 xGDiff and +1.30 xGDiff/90 minutes. It turns out those numbers are some of the best in the competition.

Expected goals (also known as xG) is an advanced statistic that gives an indication of whether results are based on sustainable factors like a steady creation of scoring chances, or whether it is down to aspects such as luck or outstanding goalkeeping.

PSG

Nothing has come easy for the Parisians thus far, supported by their 2-0-2 record in the competition.

Fortunately for PSG, the French juggernaut was able to exact some revenge last time out, handing German giant RB Leipzig a 1-0 setback. The Parisians had suffered a 1-0 shutout loss in their previous meeting.

The Parisians enter this match fresh off a 2-2 home draw against Bordeaux in a Ligue 1 fixture over the weekend at Parc des Princes.

Brazilian star Neymar scored via penalty kicks in both matches, which should have him dripping with confidence entering this meeting.

When comparing PSG's data against Manchester United, the French side's advanced metrics are slightly below its host in the standings. The Parisians have a commendable 5.9 expected goals and mediocre 5.2 expected goals against, yielding a +0.7 xGDiff and +0.17 xGDiff/90 minutes.

Betting Analysis & Picks

As I mentioned earlier, both clubs have plenty to play for in this match. However, PSG needs a positive result a whole lot more than Manchester United does at this moment.

The Parisians have too much at stake, not to mention a feisty RB Leipzig outfit breathing down their necks in its search for a place in the knockout round.

That said, I am backing PSG via a Draw No Bet wager at a fair price. This is the time for Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to shine, which I see happening in this ultra-important affair.

I am also going to play the total to go over the number as well. These sides do not lack offensive firepower in any way, shape or form. Add in the fact there have been at least three goals scored in Manchester United's last five games in this competition, and I like my chances in this spot.

Picks: PSG — Draw No Bet (-127) | Total Over 2.5 Goals (-150)
