Reds vs Pirates Preview
The first three games of this series already hit the under, and a fourth one might be on the way today.
The Pirates offense is next-to-last this season with a wRC+ of 81, and is also last in slugging (.347) and ISO (.114), so we should never expect much production from them, no matter who they're facing.
Today, they will have to deal with an inspired Zack Littell.
The new Reds starter has been excellent in his past two starts (his last one with Tampa Bay and his first one with Cincinnati), giving up only one run and five hits combined in 12 complete innings, with 12 strikeouts.
The Reds have a better offense, but this month they have been awful. Cincinnati is dead last in wRC+ in August with an appalling 48 rating, and also takes the bottom spot in ISO (.086).
This aligns with our Bet Labs recommendation to go with the under.
This system targets MLB regular season games where both teams are coming off low-scoring performances (0 to 2 runs scored in their previous game) within the same series.
These matchups tend to reflect strong pitching or cold offenses, and the market may not adjust the total downward enough in time.
This strategy filters for more recent seasons to reflect current scoring environments and pitcher usage trends. Betting the under in these situations has shown consistent short-term profitability.
Pick: Under 8 (-102, BetMGM)
