Tigers vs Guardians MLB Betting Preview, Prediction
By Nick Galaida
Logan Allen will almost certainly be asked to cover at least a few innings on Friday, with Cleveland playing a double-header.
Allen was stretched out to 13 batters faced and 50 pitches on August 25 — it wouldn't be surprising to see him stretched out even further in this spot.
The Guardians don't have a scheduled day off again until September 10, either, which is another reason to expect manager Stephen Vogt to try to get as much length as he can from Allen here.
He should be poised to cover a minimum of three innings on Friday, if not work deeper into the game. That should give him plenty of opportunities to collect three strikeouts against a Detroit lineup that ranks 22nd in O-contact%, 15th in Z-contact%, and 22nd in called-strike% against southpaws during the last 30 days.
If Allen has a longer-than-expected leash, it only increases the likelihood that this play cashes.
I'm splitting a unit between Allen's outs and strikeouts in this matchup.
Pick: Logan Allen Over 2.5 Strikeouts (-203, 0.5 u) & Over 9.5 Outs (-130, 0.5 u)
