Sean Paul's Mariners vs Blue Jays Best Bet: Back Toronto at Home
By Sean Paul
I have to go with the Blue Jays here.
Yes, they dropped the first two games in Toronto, but very few teams found success beating the Blue Jays in the Rogers Centre. It's such a strong home-field advantage, and I just think the Jays are better suited to win this matchup.
They clearly saw Kirby well in Game 3 and handled Logan Gilbert with ease in Game 6. If they stick to their approach, I can't see them losing — unless the Mariners have an otherworldly night at the dish.
Pick: Blue Jays Moneyline (-130)
Kyle Murray's Mariners vs Blue Jays Best Bet: Short Leash for Kirby?
By Kyle Murray
George Kirby gets a tough strikeout matchup against a Blue Jays team that has a strikeout rate of just 16% against right-handed pitching this season. Kirby also will likely be on a short leash, as he is on just four days rest and pitchers generally tend to have short leashes in elimination games. In his Game 5 start against the Tigers, Kirby threw just 66 pitches.
The likely tight leash, combined with the tough strikeout matchup, has me on the under, and although Kirby struck out four Blue Jays over 74 pitches and four innings in Game 3, he also got lit up, so there is a chance the Blue Jays see him well in this one.
Pick: George Kirby Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-136)
Sean Zerillo's Mariners vs Blue Jays Best Bet: Runs Likely Limited
By Sean Zerillo
I projected the total at 7.18 runs, and lean to the under at 7.5 given the anticipated, aggressive pitching changes for both teams. Still, I would need at least -107 to find a 1% edge on the total compared to my projection, and the line has already moved from an opener of -110 closer to -115. Perhaps I will target a live under nine if there is early scoring.
