Cardinals vs Brewers Preview, Betting Analysis
Both starting pitchers come in with high confidence after great outings.
Fedde will get the ball tonight for the Cardinals after going toe-to-toe with Yoshinobu Yamamoto in his last start against the Dodgers.
He pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing only four hits and striking out two, with four walks as his only blemish. However, cautiousness in throwing it down the middle is understandable when facing such a powerful lineup.
If we removed the three starts in which Fedde suffered a beating, conceding more than three runs, his current 3.54 ERA would look incredible.
There's an issue, though: His xERA and XFIP suggest he's done better than expected. Also, one of those three beatings he took was against the Brewers on April 27, the previous time he faced them this season.
However, those Brewers were different. Their offense was in the midst of their best productive stretch, with a 110 wRC+ in the last two weeks of April. In June, Milwaukee ranks 27th in the majors with a 81 wRC+, and for the entire season, it's 25th with a 91 wRC+.
For the past week, the only game in which the Brewers produced more than four runs was last night. So, unless this is another awakening — like the one in mid-April — Fedde shouldn't fear another pummeling.
The key to tonight's game, however, is Peralta. The Milwaukee ace comes from a six-inning, one-hit stellar performance against the San Diego Padres.
More importantly, he managed to issue less than three walks this time.
With a 2.69 ERA and going against a Cardinals offense that's dipped recently (with +90 wRC+ in June), Peralta should help get the score under the 7.5 line tonight, which aligns with the recommendation from our Bet Labs system.
Cardinals vs Brewers Prediction
This system in the MLB targets evening games in which public interest in the over is muted, recent home team scoring has run slightly hot and subtle environmental signals align with lower-scoring outcomes.
These games start between 7 and 11:59 p.m. ET, and the market over percentage sits below 50, suggesting minimal public pressure on inflated totals.
Meanwhile, the wind direction — whether blowing in, across the field or neutral — paired with moderate temperatures between 26 and 74 introduces natural resistance to run scoring.
The home team is competitively priced on the moneyline and has a wide win rate window, providing no clear power imbalance that might inflate totals.
When layered together, these filters isolate a soft edge in a game environment where bettors overlook the under due to recency bias and lack of extreme public conviction.
Pick: Under 7.5 (-105, BetMGM)
