76ers vs. Cavaliers
By Jim Turvey
I am targeting James Harden to go over 22.5 points & rebounds, primarily to get ahead of Cleveland’s murky injury report.
Currently, both Jarrett Allen and Peyton Watson are listed as questionable. I am treating these designations with caution, giving Allen roughly a 40 percent chance to play and Watson maybe 20 percent.
This is the front end of a back-to-back for the Cavaliers before they play the Knicks on Saturday, so they are highly likely to stagger rest or sit both guys. If those two are out, this prop immediately turns into a four-star smash.
When Allen and Watson are off the court, Harden’s usage rate and rebound rate both skyrocket. The tactical handicap here is that without Allen serving as an elite rim protector, Harden shifts away from his pass-first, facilitating role and leans much heavier into his pure scoring instincts.
The 76ers are averaging the fewest corner three-point attempts in the league right now, meaning Harden has to generate offense directly on the ball.
I'll grab Harden over 22.5 points & rebounds tonight.
Pick: James Harden Over 22.5 Points & Rebounds (-126)Â

Thunder vs. Grizzlies
By Jim Turvey
I am sadly taking the under on Ty Jerome’s points prop at 22.5 tonight. I know everyone loves watching him play, but the regression is absolutely looming.
Jerome has benefited from a very friendly schedule, with his numbers boosted by an opening night explosion and an overtime game a few days ago.
Tonight, Jerome faces arguably the toughest opponent a perimeter ball-handler can see: the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Even with a few guys out, OKC still boasts an excellent defensive backcourt that contests everything at the point of attack.
The toughest defensive team Jerome has played so far this season was Portland, and he scored just 10 points in that matchup.
Jerome is currently shooting an irrational percentage on high-difficulty two-point attempts, and those contested circus shots are simply not going to fall at the same rate against the Thunder.
This line is slightly lower than his season average, and it would be an absolute smash if it were sitting higher, but I still love fading his scoring output in what profiles as a difficult defensive environment.
Pick: Ty Jerome Under 22.5 Points (-130)Â

Jazz vs. Mavericks
By Joe Dellera
Cooper Flagg let me down in his last game against the Spurs, but I don’t even know how much I can blame him when Victor Wembanyama was just swatting shots out of thin air.
The most critical factor for Flagg right now is his shot volume. He put up 19 shots again in his latest outing, and despite falling short of this line in two straight games against Sacramento and San Antonio, he has played 40 minutes in three consecutive contests.
Tonight, Flagg draws a soft matchup against a Jazz team that is fundamentally awful on defense.
Utah possesses a terrible defensive rating, they are extremely weak in the pick-and-roll, they offer very little resistance in the paint, and they allow a high volume of pull-up jump shots and free-throw attempts.
More importantly, the Jazz play a moderate pace but try to cover opponents straight up without sending much help.
There is quite literally nobody on this Utah roster capable of covering Flagg one-on-one. Jaren Jackson Jr. is better utilized as a roaming defender, not a primary isolation stopper.
Plenty of shots should fall for Flagg tonight against this porous Jazz defense.
Pick: Cooper Flagg Over 25.5 Points (-122)Â

Trail Blazers vs. Lakers
By Nick Galaida
Deni Avdija has cleared this number in only four of seven games this season, but he’s had at least 10 potential assists in six of the seven games.
Avdija leads the Trail Blazers in assists, averaging 6.4 dimes and 12 potential assists per game. He leads the team in passes made too, which is another key metric to validate him as their primary facilitator.
The Lakers rank 21st in defensive rating through nine games and have allowed more assists per game than the league average. There is value on the over here.
Pick: Deni Avdija Over 5.5 Assists (-141)Â
