This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (3-1) and Los Angeles Lakers (1-3) will face off in Game 5 of their first round NBA Playoff series tonight. Tipoff is set for 10 p.m. ET at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The game will be broadcast live on TNT.

The Lakers are 6-point favorites over the Wolves on the spread (Lakers -6), with the over/under set at 210 total points. Los Angeles is a -240 favorite to win outright, while Minnesota is +195 to pull off the upset.

Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves boast a dominant 3-1 series lead, and look to eliminate LeBron James and Luka Doncic in LA tonight. Can the Lakers' dynamic duo extend the series and force a sixth game in Minnesota?

Let's dive into my Timberwolves vs. Lakers predictions and NBA picks for Wednesday, April 30.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Lakers Game 5 Betting Preview

The Lakers left it all out on the floor last game when JJ Redick did something unprecedented and did not make a single substitution in the second half of their latest matchup against Minnesota.

The team was absolutely gassed, and this was an all-in type of move reserved for a must-win scenario, which is not typical for a mid-series game in the first round. This is something that had never been done since tracking started in 1997.

Anthony Edwards has been a stone-cold killer down the stretch of these games for the Timberwolves. Last time out he scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to nail down this victory.

I expect the Lakers to present an anybody-but-Ant strategy tonight and force the ball out of his hands.

We have seen him be able to distribute to his teammates even when he is scoring, but if the Lakers employ this type of strategy, the dimes should pop.

He had 12 potential assists and 14 rebound chances last game, I'll grab Edwards over 11.5 rebounds + assists in Game 5 tonight.

This is a desperation spot for the Lakers, and any team with LeBron James and Luka Doncic will not be easy to put away. LeBron always steps up in these elimination games from an output and intensity perspective.

Last game, LeBron had 20 rebounds + assists on 22 rebound chances and 22 potential assists; just monster numbers from the King despite the loss.

Tonight, the Lakers will put their best foot forward as they teeter on the brink of elimination, and we should expect the starters to play as much as they can handle. With a defensive intensity uptick in this one, I'll grab the under at 210 total points.
