All five of the NFL players that have been reinstated after sports betting suspensions that lasted a full season are now without roster spots.

Former Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney was released on Monday a few days after he was reinstated from a suspension for betting on the NFL.

Toney joins former Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus, former Colts defensive end Rashod Berry, former Lions defensive tackle Demetrius Taylor and former Lions safety C.J. Moore as those reinstated from suspensions earlier this month who no longer have a roster spot in the NFL. These four players were released shortly after their suspensions in 2023.

Former Colts cornerback and returner Isaiah Rodgers also remains suspended after allegedly betting on his own team to win. Rodgers played hundreds of wagers in total, including bets involving the Colts ML and a prop bet on one of his teammates' overs on rushing yards.

Rodgers and current Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley have been the only players accused to have bet on their own teams since legalized sports betting proliferated in 2018 — and each of their suspensions have been lengthier as a result. Ridley was suspended for over a year. Rodgers is approaching that mark. If and when he returns, the Eagles will retain Rodgers' rights.

Meanwhile, Toney, Cephus, Berry, Taylor and Moore were accused of having bet on the NFL — but not on games involving their own teams. Those types of wagers warranted less of a punishment.

Other players who were suspended for four or six games did so because they wagered on team facilities or on road trips, which players and staff are barred from doing.
