The NFL will open the season with a rematch of the AFC Championship Game between the Ravens and Chiefs.

And FanDuel has released odds on the matter, with the Chiefs as -2.5 (-115) favorites at home to start off the season.

The game — which will take place on Thursday, Sept. 5 — was announced on Monday as part of a weeklong schedule release the NFL has planned.

Typically, the Super Bowl winners host the opening game.

In the AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs' defense stepped up to wreak havoc on Lamar Jackson and co., which only managed to put up 10 points despite ranking historically well all-time, according to DVOA. According to the advanced metrics, the Ravens finished the season as the No. 5 team since 1981, when data for DVOA became available.

The Chiefs parlayed that victory into a win against the No. 8 team since 1981 — the 2023 San Francisco 49ers — capping up a remarkable postseason in which a far worse team on paper scooted by on the backs of Patrick Mahomes and an elite defense.

The total for the game has been earmarked at 46.5. On the moneyline, the Ravens are +120 underdogs while the Chiefs slot in at -142.
