It's been a fun story for the Seahawks this season, but they've regressed heavily toward the end of the season and have lost six of their last nine games. Now, Seattle enters San Francisco as a double-digit underdog against the 49ers to kick off Wild Card Weekend.

With how run-heavy I expect the 49ers to be, ranking third most in seconds per play according to Football Outsiders, I have my eyes on a defensive prop on the Seahawks side that targets linebacker Cody Barton.

The first-year starter has totaled 136 tackles and assists this season, ranking second on the team behind fellow LB Jordyn Brooks' 161. In the Seahawks' previous two meetings vs. the 49ers, Barton recorded 11 and 10 combined tackles and assists, while Brooks had 11 and 8.

Barton should see an even more significant every-down role in the defense now that Jordyn Brooks (10.1 tackles and assists per game) is undergoing ACL surgery following his injury in Week 17 against the Jets. Barton should be replacing Brooks as the lead defensive signal caller.

Week 18 was his first taste as Barton took over his new role, while Tanner Muse took over his old gig. Barton only recorded seven combined tackles and assists, but it is a good buy-low for this week, knowing all the production came before the fourth quarter. The Rams ran the ball three times after that point – something one should not expect the 49ers to do on Saturday, especially when leading.

The 49ers are massive favorites again in this matchup, and Barton should see an increase in production based on the expected game script.

Stats via Statmuse.

As shown above, he has eclipsed this prop in seven of the Seahawks' eight losses. Additionally, Barton's average tackle and assists increased from 5.7 to 10.4 in this outcome.

I anticipate Barton's increased role and production on the field to be plentiful as his team is trailing, and I love his chances to combine for at least nine or more tackles + assists in this game.

This prop is available at BetMGM, Caesars and DraftKings.
