Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview: Rotation Depth Tested Against Seattle

The Los Angeles Dodgers come into their final series of the season with not much to play for. They have already clinched the NL West and are lined up to host a Wild Card series starting Tuesday.

With motivation not being much of a factor in this matchup, it wouldn't surprise me to see some of their everyday veterans get some rest. If that is to be the case, it will only worsen their matchup against Seattle's George Kirby.

Kirby is one of the biggest positive regression candidates heading into the postseason, as his 4.24 ERA is nowhere near indicative of how well he's pitched. His xFIP of 3.11 paints a much better picture, as his high strikeout upside will be evident tonight.

Seattle Mariners Betting Preview: Kirby Takes the Spotlight

As for the Mariners, they are in a fairly similar situation. Seattle has clinched the AL West thanks to a catastrophic collapse from the Astros and now sits as the No. 2 seed in the American League.

While the Yankees and Blue Jays are battling it out for the AL East, the Mariners sit just a game behind each of them for the top spot in the league. However, it may suit them best to remain the No. 2 seed as they'll host a team not from the AL East.

Although that series won't start until next Saturday, which means the Mariners don't need to rest their everyday players and don't need to restrict George Kirby.

Despite being at full strength, their lineup is in for a tough assignment in Emmet Sheehan. Sheehan has quietly emerged as one of the best young arms in the game as he enters with a 2.86 ERA and an elite CSW.

Sheehan has shown few signs of regression and should have success tonight. Although the Mariners may get a break, as with the playoffs looming, Sheehan will likely not be pushed past five innings.

Dodgers vs Mariners Prediction, Betting Analysis

The last series of the season is all about motivation, and there is some in this series, but both these teams are already cemented into the playoff picture.

Look for both starters to have success tonight as they carve through lineups that may be missing some big bats and looking ahead to the postseason.

Pick: F5 Under 4 (-120, bet365)
