Hawks vs Wizards NBA Preview
This is an NBA Cup game, which is great because even in a blowout you'll see the mainstays attempt to run up the score to move on in the tournament.
The Hawks are 1-1 with a +8 point differential in Group A out east.
The Raptors, at 3-0, have already clinched the group.
Atlanta still has to face the 2-1 Cavaliers, meaning a win here would set up a de facto “winner-take-all” matchup between the Hawks and Cavs later this week — and even that wouldn’t guarantee advancement.
A win would also officially eliminate the 0-2 Wizards, who sit at -63, only outdone by the Jazz.
In general, Washington is 1-15 and doesn’t pose much of a threat against this version of the Hawks, who have gone 7-2 in their last nine and 9-4 since Trae Young’s injury.
Young (knee) is out and Luke Kennard (hip) is questionable for Atlanta.
For Washington, sharpshooting rookie Tre Johnson (hip) is out indefinitely.
Marvin Bagley (hip) and Kyshawn George (illness) are questionable to play.

He's gone over this in three straight and in six of his last eight.
The Wizards allow the most rebounds and the fourth-most assists per 100 possessions in the NBA.
Johnson is averaging 9.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game this season.
Since Young's injury, he's at 10.5 boards and 7.9 dimes.
If this weren't a Cup game, I'd be more worried about the minutes, but point differential matters.
Atlanta doesn't simply win this, beat Cleveland and advance — each conference gets one Wild Card spot.
And right now, Atlanta has just the seventh-best point differential in the conference.
I will also sprinkle the Johnson triple-double at +375 on BetMGM. He has one this season against Utah.
