Rockets vs Spurs Sunday Night Basketball Preview
The fourth and final regular-season matchup between these two Texas teams could be a thriller.
The Spurs hold a 2-1 lead in the season series and have tasted defeat only once in the nine games they've played since All-Star Weekend.
San Antonio is one of the NBA's most well-rounded teams when healthy. It's given up just 106.6 points per game to opposing teams since the All-Star break while scoring 118.6 points per contest.
Both of those marks are top-six figures since February 19. However, defense has been its calling card in its two wins against Houston this season.
The Spurs have held the Rockets to 104.5 points per game in their pair of double-digit wins over the Rockets in 2025-26.
They excelled at forcing turnovers in the lone matchup at their home court, as Houston racked up 24 giveaways on its first trip to the Frost Bank Center this season. The Rockets' struggles to take care of the ball haven't gone away.
Houston is 6-3 straight up since the All-Star break, but has turned the ball over 17.3 times per outing over its previous nine games. That's concerning, given that the Trail Blazers lead the NBA in turnovers per game (16.5).
The Rockets' carelessness could come back to bite them if their recent habits carry over into Sunday's meeting with the Spurs.
On the injury front, Jae'Sean Tate (knee) has been ruled out for Houston, and Harrison Barnes (ankle) is out for San Antonio.
Rockets vs Spurs Betting Predictions
Only five teams have covered in a higher percentage of their home games than the Spurs (57.1%) this season, and the home team has the tools to keep up its impressive run at the Frost Bank Center.
San Antonio is 2-0 ATS in its wins against Houston. The Rockets have also failed to cover the spread in four of their previous five losses.
The underdogs do have a very impressive 6-0 ATS record as road underdogs this season, but all signs point to them falling short against the spread if they don't win this matchup.
The Rockets have given up the third-most points off turnovers (22.3) since Feb. 19. They won't be able to afford those mistakes against the Spurs tonight.
