Speculating on who may grace the cover of the new NBA 2K video game is always fun for the general public.
But now, you have the opportunity to cash out on your prediction.
Currently, Kalshi has Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs favored to be the cover boy of NBA 2K27 with a 95% chance, but don’t count out New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.
Since the Knicks went on a 13-game playoff winning streak and positioned the Knicks as a Finals favorite, Brunson’s stardom has skyrocketed. The Knicks and Spurs are fighting to land an NBA championship, and the MVP might find himself on the cover of NBA 2k27, too.

Wembanyama, of course, possesses otherworldly traits – traits that no other NBA player has ever had. With his gargantuan 7-foot-4 frame, and his ability to ball handle, shoot from 3, be a defensive wizard, and become the league’s most dangerous lob threat, “Wemby” has quickly risen as one of the league’s biggest stars.
But these NBA Finals may be an indicator on who 2K may be targeting.
Currently, on Kalshi, Brunson’s chances of being the cover boy are only listed at 7%, but that number continues to rise.
From the end of March through the middle of May, Brunson has barely been recognized as a top contender for the cover.
However, after he led the Knicks to a 22-point comeback in the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kalshi traders began placing wagers on the guard.
His price went from 3 cents to 7 cents in a matter of hours, and quickly rose to 17 cents on May 30.
But then Wembanyama came along.
As he led the Spurs to the NBA Finals by defeating the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, traders became increasingly confident that “The Alien” was a shoe-in to be the cover boy.
Since then, Brunson’s price has gone on a downward spiral, even after the Knicks took a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals.
Wembanyama On The NBA 2k27 Cover?
Despite Wembanyama being the clear-cut favorite, Brunson still has value as the pick.
It would be even more evident should the Knicks pull away with the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
There’s a saying in basketball that “the NBA does well when the Knicks do well,” and even LeBron James seems to believe so.
Ain’t no denying DIPSET! And the league is simply better off when the Knicks are winning. https://t.co/Zifxs2OtVH

And if the Knicks end up winning the Finals, Brunson’s chances should only improve.
When you factor in the history of basketball video games from the 2K series and the NBA Live series, the Knicks have not had a cover athlete on a video game (minus the now-retired Carmelo Anthony's special edition of NBA 2K26).
The Spurs, on the other hand, have had two, with Tim Duncan on the cover of NBA Live 2000 and Tony Parker on the cover of NBA Live 09.
For 2K, there's an intrigue by putting a Knick on the cover, since the 'New York' brand carries a lot of weight.
Today, if you wager 10 dollars on Brunson’s 7-cent contract, you would walk away with a grand total of 134 dollars.
Sure, Wembanyama is the appealing choice because of his allure. But with this trade, you’re banking on a Knicks win with low risk and a potentially high reward.
