The Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks will kick off the second round of this year's playoffs at Madison Square Garden on Monday. The two Eastern Conference squads split their regular-season series down the middle, but Joel Embiid didn't play in two of those four contests. The big man turned the tide for his team in the first round, but he might not be the most reliable 76er on Monday.

Tyrese Maxey has arguably been the 76ers' most consistent player this postseason. The lightning-quick guard averaged 26.9 points while shooting 46.4% from the field and 41.8% from deep against the Boston Celtics in the first round. Embiid's presence makes it more difficult for defenses to lock in on him, and he seems poised to continue dominating New York.

Maxey posted 30.0 points per game and shot at least 50.0% from the field and beyond the arc against the Knicks during the regular season. If Philadelphia hunts Jalen Brunson on defense like the Atlanta Hawks did, he'll likely have a good chance to thrive offensively.

Maxey finished the regular season as a top-five scorer and is well on his way to doing the same in the playoffs. If he's as efficient as usual while taking 20 or more shots, scoring more than 25 points in a third straight outing will be well within his reach.

Pick: Tyrese Maxey Over 25.5 Points (-105)

The Minnesota Timberwolves won their regular-season series against the San Antonio Spurs 2-1, but appear to be at a major disadvantage this postseason. Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo have long been ruled out for Game 1 on Monday, and the Spurs are at full strength. Rudy Gobert will have to put on another defensive masterclass to slow down Victor Wembanyama.

Wemby is averaging 21. points per game in his first playoff run, despite having scored five points in Game 2 of the first round before leaving the contest early with a concussion. He's averaging 26.3 points per game when he receives his full workload this postseason, and has been especially dominant against Minnesota as of late.

Wembanyama scored at least 29 points in both of his matchups with the Timberwolves this season—his average of 34.0 points against them places him at nearly 1.2 points per minute. His ceiling could rise on Monday, as it's not likely that he'll log less than 31 minutes in a third straight contest against Minnesota.

He has attempted 24.0 shots per contest against his fellow Frenchman over the last two seasons, which is well up from his average of 16.9 in 2025-26. Wemby has fully embraced his role as San Antonio's engine on both sides of the ball, and Gobert won't have as much help defensively with the aforementioned names out of commission.

Don't expect Wemby to shy away from competition against his friend and mentor in this one.

Picks: Victor Wembanyama Over 26.5 Points (-114)
