Cade Otton enters Year 4 already behind the curve. He missed chunks of training camp with a hamstring injury, then picked up a second leg issue in August that left him rusty in preseason with limited reps and a drop vs. Pittsburgh. Though cleared for Week 1, back-to-back lower-body & groin setbacks in the same summer raise questions about conditioning and reliability in a role built on consistency. Last year’s 4.1 rec avg. looks playable on paper, but it’s inflated by a three-game spike (9, 5, & 8 receptions from Week 8-10) when both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were out, including a 9-catch game against this same Falcons defense. What goes overlooked is that earlier in the season, when Evans was active, Otton managed just 3 receptions against Atlanta. In games with Evans healthy and against defenses outside the bottom 10 in TE DVOA, Otton averaged just 2.4 catches and stayed under this line in 8 of 10. The matchup remains unfavorable. Otton ran 51.2% of his routes on incline patterns in 2024 (9th-highest among TEs), and Atlanta defended those routes at a top-five rate, allowing the fourth-lowest target share and ninth-fewest receptions to the position. With Jessie Bates and Troy Andersen anchoring the middle, the Falcons held tight ends to the 12th-fewest fantasy points overall. Godwin’s absence might hint at more volume, but Tampa has alternative outlets, rookie Emeka Egbuka filling the slot role and Rachaad White/Sterling Shepard as a proven checkdown. Meanwhile, the loss of LT Tristan Wirfs should lock Otton into more blocking assignments, further suppressing routes. Strip away the misleading averages, and Otton’s true projection sits closer to two-three catches than four. #PlayerProps

The Buccaneers averaged 4.0 red-zone trips per game last year (3rd-most), but it’s unlikely they repeat a 67% red-zone TD rate (3rd) or 51% 3rd-down conversion rate (1st) and will be without OC Liam Coen, who’s now with the Jaguars. Even a modest regression in those areas should lead to more FG attempts for McLaughlin. He’s been one of the most accurate kickers in the league, hitting 93.6% of his FG attempts over the past two seasons. His range is elite as well as he’s converted 32 of 39 (82%) career kicks from 50+ yards. That kind of trust from coaches typically earns him a few extra long attempts each year. This game is in a dome, further boosting his expected make rate. I project this closer to 1.9 FGs made with around a 57% chance to clear. Not necessarily a mid-season hammer spot, but for Week 1, this is a more straightforward edge than a lot of the market.

Bucky was up there in explosive runs last season with Saquon/Henry, which is great company. Bucky covered this line in 10/17 games when he was healthy and 5/6 when he took over the starter role. Among qualified RBs: - 7th highest explosive run% (6.8%) - 4th highest YACO/ATT (3.02) - 6th highest YBCO/ATT (2.40) ATL allowed the 10th highest YPC on man/gap concept runs in 2024 - Bucky AVG 6.54 YPC on man/gap concepts in 2024, which is the 2nd highest AVG. He also has the 10th highest man/gap ATT%.
