  • The updated betting odds for the Lakers vs. Warriors matchup list LA as a double-digit road favorite (spread: -10.5), but the over/under (220.5) is attracting more of the pro attention.
  • With LeBron James sidelined ahead of Thursday's matchup, sharp bettors been jumping on the total to move all afternoon.

The major news of tonight's Lakers-Warriors matchup broke last night, as it was announced that LeBron James would miss this game. Apparently he's pretty important given how the market reacted.

After taking the spread off the board — it had been around -13 — oddsmakers reopened it this morning at around -10.5, which is close to where it sits now (Lakers -10 across most of the market).

But while the spread may not have changed much since the adjustment following the LeBron news, the over/under has been on the move for most of the morning. And sharps have been at the root of the cause for that.

Lakers vs. Warriors Sharp Betting Pick

Unlike the spread, there was plenty of disagreement as to where the total should be reopened this morning. Some shops didn't change much at all while some made drastic drops, but the consensus quickly settled to around 223 (down from 225.5).

That apparently wasn't low enough for sharps, who've hit the under twice since then, as evidenced by two Sports Insights Bet Signals in the form of steam moves.

Also pointing toward smart money playing the under has been the discrepancy between bets and actual dollars. While bettors are split 50-50 overall on the total, the "under" half has generated 73% of the loot, meaning it consists of bigger bettors — the ones more likely to be sharps.

As a result of their sharp liability, oddsmakers have continued to adjust this line, most recently bringing it down to 221.

Sharp angle: Under (moved from 223 to 221)
