Magic vs. 76ers
By Nick Galaida
Maxey has had some big scoring games this season, including a 54-point performance last week against Milwaukee.
However, he has only cleared 31.5 points in seven of 16 games this season, and only three of six games with Joel Embiid active.
Embiid is officially questionable for this game, but he seems closer to probable.
Regardless of whether Embiid suits up, this isn’t a particularly good matchup for Maxey.
Nearly all of his shot attempts come from the restricted area, the paint, or above the break.
Orlando has allowed the 6th-fewest attempts per game from guards in the restricted area, and the 4th-fewest attempts per game from above the break.
Maxey would likely need to be unusually efficient with his opportunities to go over this line, especially against an Orlando team that does a pretty good job defending without fouling.
Pick: Tyrese Maxey Under 31.5 Points (-115)
Hawks vs. Wizards
By Joe Dellera
The Hawks still can win the group with a big win here before their final game, but they need point differential.
I expect them to play their best players as much as possible.
Okongwu slides into a bench spot with Porzingis back, but he should still get plenty of opportunities.
This matchup against the Wizards is soft, they’re weak at the center position, with mainly just Sarr down low, and if Okongwu is coming off the bench, they will see less minutes on the floor together.
Okongwu averages 23.6 PR with Porzingis in the lineup, and this is a clear pace-up spot against the Wizards, who play at the 4th-fastest pace in the league.
Pick: Onyeka Okongwu Over 21.5 Points + Rebounds (-115)
Clippers vs. Lakers
By Nick Galaida
In the lone game that Deandre Ayton missed this season, Hayes grabbed five rebounds on 12 rebound chances in 32 minutes against the Heat.
According to the RotoGrinders CourtIQ tool, Hayes is averaging 5.8 rebounds per 24 minutes this season with Ayton off of the floor.
Thus, even if Hayes doesn’t see 30+ minutes again with Ayton sidelined, he should still have a decent margin for error.
The Clippers rank 25th in rebounds allowed per game to centers in November.
During that span, they have allowed 21+ rebound chances to Andre Drummond, Evan Mobley, Neemias Queta, and Nikola Jokic.
Hayes should have a great chance to collect 5+ rebounds in this matchup.
