The Suns are riding high right now, as they have the NBA’s best record by a whopping nine games. While they’ve rode on the backs of All-Stars Devin Booker and the currently-injured Chris Paul, it’s the young complementary pieces who have elevated their games to the next level.

Mikal Bridges is a prime example. Not only is he a lock-down defender, but he’s averaging a career high 14.1 points per game. Over his last 25 contests, he’s upped his scoring to 18.2 points, eclipsing this line in 64% of those games. And in the seven games since Booker returned from his COVID-induced absence, Bridges is averaging 20.7 points per game.

In his most recent 25 game sample, the Villanova product has seen a 3.4% usage increase, while taking three more shots per game. Despite the added workload, Bridges is actually shooting more efficiently in this stretch (62.9% eFG%) versus earlier in the season (57.5%).

The Timberwolves will bring the tempo, ranking first in the NBA in pace. With Minnesota likely going all out to stop Booker, Bridges should benefit from some winnable matchups on the wing.
