Victor Wembanyama is off to a rousing start to his NBA career.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft went into his first NBA season with high expectations.

He has been the favorite to win Rookie of the Year since the time he was drafted, but the 7-foot-4 center has exceeded expectations through the first six games of his career.

Wembanyama opened at -225 to win NBA Rookie of the Year at BetMGM. His odds started to come down after a poor performance at the NBA Summer League. Before the season, he was around -150 at most sportsbooks to win Rookie of the Year.

After the first few weeks of the season, Wembanyama has become the clear favorite to win Rookie of the Year. He is now -360 at DraftKings to win the the award.

Wembanyama is averaging 20.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.8 blocks per game through six games with the San Antonio Spurs this season.

His stiffest competition for the Rookie of the Year award is Chet Holmgren, who is in his second year in the NBA but wasn't able to play due to injury last season, making him eligible as a rookie this year.

Holmgren is +500 to win Rookie of the Year. The 7-foot-1 center from Gonzaga is also off to a great start. He's averaging 17.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 blocks per game.

However, if Wembanyama continues putting up his ridiculous stats, Holmgren will have an uphill climb to win the award.
