Texas State vs Oregon State College Football Preview
Texas State Bobcats Betting Preview: Scoring Out of Necessity
Texas State enters Saturday night’s Week 10 matchup with a 4-4 record after a heartbreaking one-point loss to Boise State last weekend after trailing by 25 at half.
Bobcat quarterback Brad Jackson is having quite an impressive campaign, already throwing for 1,933 passing yards, which ranks top-20 in the country.
In Texas State head coach G.J. Kinne’s fourth year at the helm, the Bobcats have a major bounce-back opportunity as their road trip continues in Corvallis.
Kinne’s offense is scoring over 37 points per game and averages over 500 total yards per game. The Bobs boast one of the statistically premier offenses in the nation.
Senior tailback Torrance Burgess Jr. leads the Bobcat rushing attack, already racking up 922 yards, which ranks 10th in college football.
Unfortunately for the Bobcats, they must maintain such an elite uptempo offense largely due to their vast inefficiencies on the other side of the ball.
In Texas State’s first eight games, the Bobcats defense has allowed over 32 PPG, which could be quite problematic heading into a matchup against an Oregon State offense that can light up the scoreboard.
If the Bobcats want to avenge their devastating Week 9 loss with a win on the road at Oregon State, they'll need to improve substantially on defense to contain the likes of Braden Atkinson and Jesse Legree.
Oregon State Beavers Betting Preview: Legree Leads Beavs
Like its Saturday night counterpart, Oregon State boasts an elite uptempo Air Raid that has led to the Beavers scoring over 40 PPG heading into Week 10.
Oregon State head coach JaMarcus Shephard operates a relentless spread offense led by quarterback Braden Atkinson, who paces the country with 2,977 passing yards on the season.
The Beavs' sophomore has quickly established himself as one of college football’s premier signal-callers, and part of his success can be attributed to the play of superstar freshman wide receiver Jesse Legree.
Legree has taken college football by storm over the first nine weeks of the season and has come out of nowhere to put himself into Heisman Trophy contention after receiving just one Division-I offer out of high school.
The 5-foot-10 speedster has been unstoppable, racking up 1,100 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns — both of which are the best in the country.
The Biletnikoff contender is borderline unguardable, especially playing in a Pac-12 Conference filled with defenses that lack efficiency on that side of the football — the precise matchup the Beavers get in Week 10.
After losing to Fresno State last weekend to fall to 5-3 on the season, I'm expecting a monster bounce-back performance from an Oregon State offense that posts 517.4 yards per game, which ranks fourth in the FBS.
While the Beavers are far weaker defensively as well, Shephard’s bunch will be both battle-tested and extremely motivated playing in front of a home crowd on Saturday night.

Texas State vs Oregon State Pick, Betting Analysis
We're in for a shootout on Saturday evening featuring two of the premier offenses in college football.
While there's no doubt that Kinne’s offense is impressive behind stellar play from Jackson, Texas State’s pass defense is quite vulnerable, ranking 137th in the FBS by allowing opposing offenses nearly 300 passing yards per game.
Though I fully expect the Bobcats to find a ton of success offensively as well, Texas State should be morally deflated after its Week 9 loss. Plus, it now runs into one of the best QB/WR duos in the nation following a tough loss.
Despite how effective both Jackson and this Bobcat rushing attack have been, I expect the Beavers to come out scorching in the first half of Week 10’s matchup, and I'll be backing Oregon State to cover its -3.5 first-half spread.
In addition to the Beaver first-half handicap, I absolutely love Legree to go nuts on Saturday against an atrocious Bobcats pass defense.
That said, I feel confident backing Legree to exceed his receiving yard total, in addition to soaring over his longest reception mark in what should be an offensive masterclass from the Beavers’ young receiver.
Pick: Oregon State 1H -3.5 · Jesse Legree 120+ Receiving Yards (-103)
