Lakers vs 76ers NBA Preview

Thus far, the Lakers have split the first two games on their East Coast trip. It will conclude tonight in Philadelphia before returning home to take on the Spurs in the NBA Cup Quarterfinal. Austin Reaves has continued to play well without Luka Doncic, as he had 44 points and 10 assists against the Raptors and 36 points and eight assists against the Celtics.

However, he will take a backseat tonight as Doncic is back in the lineup following the birth of his second child. Doncic will return as the league's leading scorer at 35.3 points per game and he is also fourth at 8.9 assists per game. He will be in search of his eighth consecutive 30-point game.

It remains to be seen whether the Lakers will get LeBron James back tonight after he sat out against Boston on the second night of the back-to-back. He is listed as questionable with right sciatica, left foot joint arthritis.

James saw his NBA record of 1,297 games with double-digit scoring come to an end in Toronto as he scored eight points on 4-for-17 from the field. He nearly got an extra five minutes to extend it, but in typical James fashion, he made the right play and set up Rui Hachimura for the game-winning three.

After hitting a brief rough patch, the 76ers have won three straight and four of their last five games. Tyrese Maxey had scored 35 points in three straight games, including 44 against Atlanta.

However, he is coming off his worst game of the season against the Bucks when he was limited to 12 points and four assists on 5-for-14 from the field. Still, the Sixers were able to cruise to a 15-point victory and I would expect him to bounce back tonight.

For Philadelphia, both Joel Embiid and Paul George are questionable for tonight's game with left knee injuries. On their back-to-back, Embiid played against Golden State while George played against Milwaukee.

It will be interesting to see if Philadelphia staggers the two of them on back-to-backs like that for the remainder of the season. If they are both in tonight, it will be just the second game that the 76ers have had Maxey, Embiid, and George available this season.

If George is ruled out, VJ Edgecombe's rebounds and assists combo is very appealing. He is averaging 9.9 RA and cleared in 12 of 14 games without George this season. One of his rebounds helped the 76ers salvage Thursday's win against the Warriors with a game-winning putback.

Lakers vs 76ers Prediction, Betting Analysis

Having scored 30 points in his last seven games, Doncic has reached 30 in 12 of 16 games this season. In all 12 games in which he scored 30 points, he also reached 33 as well with five 40-point games this season.

Doncic also scored 38 in his last game against Philadelphia while with Dallas and he had a ton of success against George during the ClippersMavericks battles.

Despite James returning, both Doncic and Reaves continue to score. Reaves has scored 20 points in five of six games with James available and in 17 of 19 games this season. He got to 20 points against the 76ers once last season as well.

Meanwhile, Maxey surprisingly struggled against a Bucks defense that is among the worst at defending point guards. However, they also held Cade Cunningham to 17 and 23 points in two games in the past week.

Maxey has scored 27 points in three straight games against the Lakers, including 43 against them at home in January. He has also scored 30+ points in six of eight games with Embiid active this season, averaging 35.3 per game.

Pick: Luka Doncic Over 32.5 Points (-108, DraftKings)
