NHL Playoffs First-Round Series Lines & Updated Stanley Cup Odds

The NHL's true first round is set, and with it come series prices.

There are some more lopsided matchups in this round than there were in the qualifying round — the Coyotes, Blackhawks and Canadiens are all near or north of 2-1 at BetMGM. We didn't have any underdogs greater than that in the best-of-5 qualifying round.

Only one favorite in this round has a less than 60% chance of advancing, according to the betting market. That honor belongs to the Dallas Stars, who are -130 (56.53% chance) against the Calgary Flames.

MoneyPuck.com's projections make things tighter — just the Islanders and Blackhawks have a less than 40% chance to advance.

Last year's first round was marred by some monster upsets, most notably the Tampa Bay Lightning (-400) getting swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Calgary Flames (-230) going down in five games to the Colorado Avalanche. Underdogs won five of the eight first-round series.

Now, we'll get a rematch of the Jackets-Lightning series, plus the Hurricanes will get another go at the Bruins after falling in the conference finals a season ago.
