In what might now be NBA All-Star Saturday's most anticipated event, the 3-Point Contest features a deep field of shooters for the competition.

Last year's winner, Karl-Anthony Towns, won't be there to defend his title, but does feature 2020 winner Buddy Hield who is the favorite to win the 2023 3-Point title. Here's a look at the players in the field.

Buddy Hield

Hield is a career 40.1% 3-point shooter and hitting 42.6% this season, which ranks eighth in the NBA among qualified shooters. Hield took home the hardware at All-Star Weekend in Chicago at +550 odds beating that year's favorite, Trae Young.

Damian Lillard

Lillard is a two-time participant in the NBA 3-Point Contest (2014, 2019) and is the other favorite with Hield to make it out of the first round. Lillard is a career 37.3% 3-point shooter and is right at his average this season (37.2%). Lillard hit 11 3s in December against the Timberwolves, which is tied for the second-most made 3s in a game this season.

Jayson Tatum

Tatum is another past participant in the NBA 3-Point Contest — he lost in the second round in 2021. Tatum is a career 37.8% 3-point shooter, but he's shooting a bit below his average at 35.7% this season.

Kevin Huerter

Huerter is having his best 3-point shooting season hitting 39.2% of his attempts from behind the arc. (Amazingly, that isn't even the best mark for the Sacramento Kings this season). For his career, Huerter has made 38.2% of his 3s and has dipped below that number just once (36.3% in 2020-21)

Lauri Markkanen

Markkanen is the lone All-Star from the Utah Jazz playing in front of the home crowd. He's shooting 41.2% from deep this season — his second season shooting above 40% from 3 — and is a career 37.3% 3-point shooter. Based solely on shooting percentage this season, Markkanen trails only Hield in efficiency from beyond the arc among players in the field.

Tyrese Haliburton

Haliburton is the youngest member of this group (and has the most unorthodox release), but he's a top notch shooter. In his short career, Haliburton has hit 40.7% of his 3-pointers and he's just shy of that  at 39.9% this season.

Tyler Herro

Surprisingly, given his reputation as shooter, this is Herro's first time in the NBA 3-Point Contest. Herro is hitting 36.9% of his 3-point attempts this season and makes 38.1% for his career.

Julius Randle

Randle is an injury replacement for Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons and he's a wild card when it comes to 3-point shooting. This season, he's hitting 33.8% of his 3s, which falls well below every player on this list, but he is one of three players (Lillard and Herro are the others) with multiple games of eight or more made 3s this season.
