Québec Sports Betting Background

As the second-most populous Canadian province, Québec has been offering single-game sports betting in-person and online since Aug. 27, 2021. Mise-o-jeu and Sports Interaction were the first sportsbooks to launch in Québec and will be leading the way for sports betting in the province moving forward.

November 2021

  • The Salon de Jeux de Québec opened a new location at the Méga Centre Beauport on Nov. 29, 2021.

August 2021

  • On Aug. 27, Loto-Québec launches single-game sports betting in Québec, allowing wagers to be placed online or in person on Mise-o-jeu+, Virtual Sports, Mise-o-jeu (in-person parlay platform) and Prédictions (in person) in casinos across the province. As the first Canadian province to launch a public lottery, Québec will continue to be a leader in the betting industry across Canada.
  • On Aug. 12, Bill C-218 is given an official launch date of Aug. 27.

June 2021

  • Chief Justice of Canada Richard Wagner provides royal assent for Bill C-218 on June 29. The provinces are also given complete responsibility for their single-game sports betting regulations.
  • The Senate approves Bill C-218 on June 22.

April 2021

  • The House of Commons agrees to pass Bill C-218 on April 22.

February 2020

  • Bill C-218 is first introduced on Feb. 25 for an attempt to legalize single-game sports betting across Canada. 

July 2020

  • Live betting and a cash-out option is added for online users on July 21.

  • Mise-o-jeu is introduced across Québec as a source for parlay picks. 

How to Start Betting in Québec

With the recent legalization of single-game sports betting, Québec residents are able to place wagers via a mobile device, tablet and computer with an Espacejeux account. Bettors can also submit their bets at any Loto-Québec retail location. Loto-Québec is Québec’s lottery corporation that operates a number of land-based casinos and their associated resort casinos, as well as gaming halls in Québec City and Trois-Rivieres, and their sportsbook, Mis-o-jeu+.
