Online and mobile sports betting is legal in Oregon and has been since August 27, 2019.
However, there is only one legal statewide betting app, DraftKings Sportsbook. It is the only sportsbook available, as the Oregon Lottery selected it as its official sportsbook partner, replacing Scoreboard on January 18, 2022.
The only other restrictions on sports betting in Oregon are:
- You must be 21 or older.
- You must be physically inside Oregon.

How does sports betting work in Oregon?
Oregon runs two separate betting markets that most people never realize are separate, because from a bettor's phone they look like one.
One market is run by the Oregon Lottery
The Commission authorized DraftKings Sportsbook as the Official Provider of the Oregon Lottery as a sports betting game, and the rule is explicit that DraftKings performs those activities on behalf of the Lottery.
- When you place a bet you are buying what Oregon law calls a share. The odds are, in the language of the rule, determined by the Lottery.
- Your money sits in a funding account with Bank of George under a separate agreement you sign at registration, not in a DraftKings wallet.
While Oregon may operate in a slightly different way, it is still sports betting. Very little is actually different for players compared with the rest of the U.S.
Another market is run tribally
Oregon's federally recognized tribes operate Class III casinos under state-tribal compacts and regulate their own gaming through tribal gaming commissions, with the Oregon State Police Gaming Enforcement Division handling compact compliance.
The Oregon Lottery does not regulate them, and its rules do not bind them. That is why tribal sportsbooks can take college bets and the Lottery app cannot. The core differences are:

Can I bet on college sports in Oregon?
No, you cannot bet on college sports on the DraftKings app in Oregon. But you can bet on college games legally by going to a tribal casino.
On the DraftKings app there are no markets for Oregon, Oregon State, Alabama, or a neutral-site game between two schools in another time zone. There are no college game lines, no college totals, no college player props and no March Madness bracket products.
But the tribal casinos, free of the Oregon Lottery Commission's oversight, can offer game lines and player prop betting markets. You will have to physically attend a tribal casino in Oregon, but you are able to bet on college sports.
Where can I actually bet on the Ducks or Beavers in Oregon?
In person, at a tribal book. The Ducks play in the Big Ten under Dan Lanning, now in his fifth season, at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. Oregon State moved into the rebuilt Pac-12 for the 2026-27 athletic year under first-year head coach JaMarcus Shephard, at Reser Stadium in Corvallis. Neither is available on the Lottery app in any form.

Can I keep using my existing DraftKings account?
Yes, you can keep using your national DraftKings account. But the product might be a little different from what you are used to.
You will see Oregon rules, Oregon geolocation, and funds held in an Oregon Lottery funding account with Bank of George. Bets placed in another state stay under that state's rules and settle normally.
If you still hold a legacy Scoreboard account from before 2022, the Lottery's transition process asked for your approval before moving account information across; it never transferred anything automatically.
Can I use DraftKings DFS in Oregon?
No, you cannot. This is a genuinely separate matter. The Oregon Lottery states directly that daily fantasy sports "is a separate DraftKings product and not part of their sportsbook offering."
DraftKings stopped offering paid fantasy contests in Oregon in 2021, during the negotiations that made it the Lottery's exclusive sportsbook partner. Other fantasy operators have continued.

That contrasts sharply with Washington, where the attorney general sued Kalshi in state court in 2026 seeking to bar it from operating.
Nationally the picture is unsettled. A federal judge in Tennessee granted Kalshi a preliminary injunction in February 2026 on the view that sports event contracts are likely swaps under the Commodity Exchange Act, while a Maryland federal court declined to enjoin state enforcement.
Anyone using these platforms in Oregon should understand they are trading a financial instrument with no state gambling consumer protections and no state self-exclusion coverage.

Portland Trail Blazers
Founded as an expansion team in 1970, the Trail Blazers won the NBA championship in 1977 behind Bill Walton and returned to the Finals in 1990 and 1992.
The last two years have brought change on every front. Portland went 42–40 in 2025–26 to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2021, losing in the first round to San Antonio, though the season played out under an interim coach after Chauncey Billups was placed on leave in October. Tom Dundon's group completed a $4.25 billion purchase of the franchise from the Paul Allen estate in March 2026, and Micah Nori was hired as head coach that June.

Portland Timbers
The Timbers name dates to 1975 in the old NASL, and the current club joined MLS in 2011. Portland won MLS Cup in 2015 and reached the final again in 2018 and 2021, and Providence Park, which marked its 100th anniversary in 2026, remains one of the most atmospheric venues in the league thanks to the Timbers Army.
Results have been thinner lately. Portland has made the playoffs in each of the last two seasons but has not advanced past the opening round, going out in the wild card in 2024 and round one in 2025. Phil Neville was let go partway through 2026 and replaced in July by Martí Cifuentes, a Catalan coach previously at Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City, on a deal through 2028–29.

Portland Thorns FC
The Thorns are the most decorated club in NWSL history, winning championships in 2013, 2017 and 2022 along with two NWSL Shields and the 2021 Challenge Cup. They have made the playoffs in all but one season since the league launched and have led the NWSL in average attendance a record number of times.
Portland also plays at Providence Park and has been owned by RAJ Sports since 2024, with Jeff Agoos running soccer operations. Oregon Ducks Football
Oregon has become one of the sport's genuine national powers, reaching the BCS title game in 2010 and the first College Football Playoff final in 2014, and producing Heisman winner Marcus Mariota. The Ducks moved from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten in 2024 and play at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.
Dan Lanning is 48–8 across four seasons, the best winning percentage of his generation of coaches. Oregon won the Big Ten in its first year in the league and went 13–2 in 2025, beating James Madison and Texas Tech in the playoff before falling to eventual champion Indiana in the semifinal. Oregon State Beavers Football
Oregon State won the Rose Bowl in 1942 and 1965, produced Heisman winner Terry Baker. More recently they have had a strong run under Jonathan Smith, including a 10–3 season in 2022. The Beavers play at Reser Stadium in Corvallis and meet Oregon each year in the Civil War rivalry.
The 2023 realignment left Oregon State and Washington State as the only two Pac-12 members, and the years since have been difficult: 5–7 in 2024, then 2–10 in 2025, with Trent Bray fired seven games in. JaMarcus Shephard, previously co-offensive coordinator at Alabama, takes over in 2026 as the rebuilt Pac-12 begins play with six new members.
Portland State Vikings Football
Portland State competes in the FCS as a member of the Big Sky Conference and plays its home games off campus at Hillsboro Stadium, west of the city. The program's best-known era came under June Jones in the 2000s, and it has reached the FCS playoffs twice.
Bruce Barnum's 11-year tenure ended after a 1–11 season in 2025. Chris Fisk takes charge for 2026 with the program looking to rebuild from the bottom of the conference.

Oregon won the very first NCAA Tournament in 1939 and returned to the Final Four in 2017. The Ducks play at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene and are in their third season in the Big Ten.
Dana Altman is entering his 17th season with a 382–182 record in Eugene, having taken Oregon to nine NCAA Tournaments. 2025–26 was his worst year at the school: 12–20 overall and 5–15 in conference play, the first time an Altman team in Eugene failed to reach 20 wins.

Oregon State has a long history at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, including the 1963 Final Four under Slats Gill and a surprise run to the Elite Eight in 2021.
Wayne Tinkle's 12-year tenure ended in 2026 after a 17–16 finish, closing out two seasons as an affiliate member of the West Coast Conference. Justin Joyner, a 38-year-old assistant from Michigan, was hired in March to lead the Beavers back into the reformed Pac-12, which they rejoined on July 1.
Portland State Vikings Men's Basketball
Portland State plays at the Viking Pavilion on campus and competes in the Big Sky. The Vikings reached the NCAA Tournament in 2008 and 2009 under Ken Bone.
Jase Coburn has built the program back up in five seasons, following a 19–13 campaign with a 20–11 finish in 2025–26 and the school's first Big Sky regular-season title in more than a decade.

How are Oregon sports betting winnings taxed?
Oregon has a state income tax, so betting winnings here carry a real state obligation that bettors in Washington and Nevada do not have.
Oregon also has two unusual rules that players need to be aware of.
- Rule 1: Oregon does not tax Oregon Lottery winnings of $600 or less from a single play.
- Rule 2: The Oregon Lottery holds back 8% of any prize payment of $1,500 or more before it reaches you.
For most bettors, that means the great majority of individual winning bets are outside Oregon's tax base entirely, while still fully taxable federally.
Any prize over $600 also gets an income reporting form. That 8% is money taken up front, not your final tax rate. Oregon's income tax runs on a sliding scale from 4.75% up to 9.9%. Most Oregon bettors settle at 8.75% when they file, so a big win usually leaves a small amount still owing.
The Oregon advantage most filers miss
Federally, you can only deduct gambling losses if you itemize, and most people take the standard deduction instead. That means most people deduct nothing at all.
Oregon lets you make that choice separately, so what you did federally doesn't lock you in. Oregon's standard deduction is much smaller than the federal one, which makes itemizing worth it far more often.
So you can take the federal standard deduction and still deduct your losses on your Oregon return. You can only deduct up to the amount you won, not more.
What changed for Oregon sports betting taxes in 2026?
This is the change that matters most and it applies to every bettor in the country. Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, for tax years beginning January 1, 2026, gambling losses are deductible at only 90% of their value.
For example, if you win $100,000 and lose $100,000 in the same year, you deduct $90,000, leaving $10,000 of taxable income in a year in which you made nothing. A break-even bettor now owes tax.
Oregon sports betting tax rules for non-residents and visitors
If you are visiting Portland and win, Oregon taxes income from sports betting winnings over $600 per play, and expects a non-resident Oregon return.
The 8% withholding at $1,500 applies to you the same as to a resident. Bring the reporting form home with you; you will need it for the credit for taxes paid to another state on your home return.

In Oregon you can bet from anywhere in the state on your phone but cannot touch a college game.
In Washington you can bet on college games, including the Huskies and Cougars, since 2026. But you have to be standing inside a tribal casino.

What changed in Washington in 2026?
Governor Bob Ferguson legalized college sports betting at Washington's tribal casinos on Jun 11, 2026.
The change stemmed from a rewrite of the definition of "collegiate sport or athletic event" to permit wagering on Washington schools and on college events held in Washington, which the previous law had blocked.
It does still ban some types of college sports wagers, however:

You cannot wager on the performance or nonperformance of any named individual participant enrolled at an educational institution located in Washington. This means player prop markets.

You cannot wager on in-game decisions by a coach employed by a Washington institution.
So a Ducks–Huskies game is now bettable at a Washington tribal counter, while an Oregon bettor sitting at home in Portland cannot bet it at all.
The one thing you still cannot do is bet a prop on a named Washington player. You can wager a prop on a named Oregon player, because the restriction is tied to Washington institutions.
Can I use my Oregon DraftKings account once I cross into Washington?
No. The moment your phone confirms you are in Washington, the DraftKings Oregon platform will no longer let you bet.
Bets you already placed will be unaffected. What you cannot do is place a new bet, cash out an existing one, or top up your position from the Washington side of the Interstate Bridge. If you routinely drive between the two, get into the habit of placing bets before you leave Oregon.
Can I use my Oregon DraftKings account in California?
No, you cannot, as California has no legal sports betting of any kind. No apps, no retail sportsbooks. For southern Oregon that makes the state line at Ashland a real border. Californians driving north can bet legally the moment they cross into Oregon, with no residency requirement and no in-person registration. Coming the other way, an Oregon bettor loses access entirely on entering California.

Since 1992, one percent of Oregon Lottery proceeds has been directed to problem gambling treatment and prevention. The Oregon Health Authority administers roughly $7.5 million a year through county-level programs.

Can I self-exclude from gambling in Oregon?
Yes, you can self-exclude in Oregon. The Lottery's player terms provide for a minimum of 30 days, extendable indefinitely, with a permanent option that closes the account.
The Lottery has self-exclusion periods of up to five years for its sports platform.
You will receive an emailed receipt which you must confirm before the exclusion begins, and a temporary exclusion blocks you from logging into any Lottery account. Make sure to withdraw your balance first.
A period cannot be shortened once selected, which is why the length deserves a moment's thought rather than a tap.
Does self-exclusion cover tribal sportsbooks?
No, self-exclusion does not cover the tribal casinos or sportsbooks.
The Oregon Lottery has no authority over tribal properties, and Oregon does not operate a single statewide exclusion list that spans both tracks.
The American Gaming Association's 2025 Oregon regulatory fact sheet records that Oregon's state-tribal compacts contain no self-exclusion requirement and that tribal casinos in Oregon do not operate self-exclusion programs.
If you are excluding yourself and a tribal property is somewhere you actually go, contact that property's management directly and ask what exclusion or trespass process it offers. Several will bar entry on request even without a formal program.
And if you are excluding yourself from the Lottery platform, do it knowing that it stops the app, not the casinos.
