Luckily, as I've continued to go through Underdog as an existing user, the app has a lot of bonuses for those who already have accounts.

All promos below are for current users, no code required, and none of it overlaps with the welcome offer.

Underdog Rips is a mystery card promo that virtually delivers you a pack. You "rip" it open to see what you got, then you can:

• Request the card to be shipped to your house
• Sell it back to Underdog for its Fair Market Value

The collectible card will stay in your account for 3 days. If you don't decide what to do with it, it will automatically be sold back.

Underdog pays you in bonus entries when someone you invite signs up and deposits at least $10.

There are two ways to get credit: share your personal referral link, or have your friend type your Underdog username into the promo code field during registration.

• Where to find your link: Open the Account tab, scroll to "Invite Friends," then copy or share.
• Want to share your code? Have your friend tap "Add Promo Code" and enter your username manually before finishing registration.

Underdog has a jackpot on top of the standard referral program. Every qualifying referral is automatically entered — roughly one in 1,000 is picked at random to pay out $2,000 in bonus entries instead of the usual reward.

There's nothing to opt into and no way to improve your odds. The referral still has to qualify the normal way, and every referral is evaluated independently.

A Boost increases the profit on a winning Pick'em entry by a set amount. Underdog may drop Boosts into your account via the Promotional tab.

Supercharge lets you apply a Boost to an eligible Pick'em or Champions entry after you've already submitted it. The Boost is based on your picks at the time of entry, so ties and voids can decrease the payout.

A Discount shifts the projection on an eligible selection by a set percentage, rounded to the nearest 0.5. If you're at all familiar with sports betting, it's similar to a teaser.

Free/gimme picks grade one selection as a win regardless of what the athlete actually does, with the projection displayed as 0.5, 0.0 or a checkmark. When the number is above 0.0, the pick isn't fully guaranteed.

When you add a free pick to your lineup, it increases your potential payout without making the lineup harder to win.

Apply a No Sweat promo to an eligible Pick'em entry, you'll get promo credits equal to your entry fee back if the entry loses. It's the closest thing Underdog offers to insurance on an entry.

Apply the promo to the athlete you think will perform best in a given stat category, then submit an entry using that selection. If your promo pick wins, you take a proportional share of the pot regardless of how the rest of your entry plays out.

During select promo windows, eligible users get a percentage of their Pick'em entry fees back in bonus funds. For instance, a 5% offer on $500 in qualifying entries returns $25.

Swipe games apply a profit boost to entries built inside the swipe screen, while Deal Reveal lets you pick one of nine players to receive a randomized discount.

I've extensively tested both the Underdog referral code and app. But if you want more opinions, I asked some other Action Network team members for their honest takes on Underdog.

Here's what a first-time user and a longtime DFS player had to say, starting with newcomer Joe Beguiristain:

"The Underdog app may not jump out immediately, but it functions very well. The home screen welcomes you with promotions, trending picks, popular picks, and the key matchup of the day. In other words, it's what a home screen should be. Of course, you can also search for particular players, teams, or stat types to make picks on. Stephen Pierce, who plays across several apps, also chimed in:

"Sleeper and PrizePicks are the most popular ones for me and my friends, but we'd heard a lot about Underdog too, so I decided to add it to my rotation this year. Underdog has tons of great stats for all kinds of athletes to make picks on. I tend to focus on big NFL performers in important matchups, but Underdog makes it easy to also focus on good performers in all kinds of sports each day. Me and my friends will do daily drafts in basketball or football, and we've added Underdog to our favorite apps because of how much fun we've been having."

Once your account is set up and our code is applied, it's easy to start playing. Underdog's app is built around getting you into a contest in a couple of taps.

1. Choose your game mode. Make eligible picks under the Home tab, or go to Games for other Underdog contests.
2. Make your selections. In Drafts, you take turns building a roster against other users. In Pick'em/Team Picks, choose at least two players from different teams and call each projection higher or lower.
3. Set your entry amount. Decide how much of your withdrawable cash or bonus entries to put in.
4. Submit and track. Follow along in the Track tab, where stats and potential payouts update as games unfold.

I mainly use Underdog for it's pick'em DFS contests, but the app hosts several fantasy contest types.

Pick'em is the higher/lower format, and it comes in two versions depending on your state.

Classic is a player-vs-house game where you're trying to hit a fixed multiplier based on your selections.

Champions is peer-to-peer. You enter a tournament pool, earn Champions Points for correct higher/lower calls, and your payout depends on where you finish relative to everyone else. Underdog leans on Champions in states where against-the-house pick'em isn't permitted.

• Rescues: Underdog may "rescue" a higher selection if a player exits at halftime for an eligible reason. It applies to NBA, MLB, WNBA, NFL and CFB picks, with sport-specific rules and exclusions.

Standard is the higher-risk, higher-payout route option for pick'em: every pick has to hit. It fits short entries built around two or three projections you're confident in.

Flex gives you room to be wrong once on pick'em entries. The payout is lower, but a larger lineup can still return value with a miss. We tend to default to Flex on four- and five-pick entries, or anything mixing volatile stat types like minutes, saves, or plate appearances.

Drafts is where Underdog started. The various types are all snake-draft based with no salary cap.

• Daily: Draft for a single slate or a full day. Four-player lineups keep drafts fast and payouts same-day.
• Best Ball: Season-long fantasy without the management. You draft, Underdog sets your optimal lineup each week, and there are no trades or waivers.
• Tournaments: Larger-field contests with distinctive structures, payouts and names. Worth browsing the lobby, since the formats vary a lot.
• Battle Royale: You draft against six to twelve users, but you're scored against every user in every group over the contest window.

Streaks starts with a Pick-2 from two different teams, then runs through nine straight Pick-1s if those hit. Ride all 11 for up to 1,000x, or hit the Win Now button to cash out early.

Picks under 1x play it safe and picks above 1x add risk, so your final payout moves with the choices you make along the way. Note that Streak entries aren't eligible for any of Underdog's promos.

Ladders asks you to pick three to five players you expect to go off, with the payout climbing rung by rung as each one clears. It's a natural fit for slates where you have strong reads on a few high-usage players.

Rivals puts two athletes head-to-head instead of against a fixed number. You just pick who produces more in a given category.

Underdog adds a handicap to keep the matchup fair, so a leadoff hitter might get a +1.5 head start on total bases against a power hitter. It's our favorite way to play pitching matchups, since you only need your guy to clear the adjusted number.

Crash is a live, pitch-by-pitch MLB contest, and it's the most different thing in the lobby. You're projecting how long a plate appearance lasts, and your multiplier grows with every pitch that doesn't end the at-bat.

• Cashing out: You can only cash out between pitches, and your payout is your entry fee times the multiplier at that moment.
• The crash: If the at-bat ends while you're still in, the entry is lost.
• Bonus funds: Bonus funds are used before real cash, and winnings above your entry fee are always paid in real cash.

Swipe formats present projections one at a time and let you build a card by swiping through them. Entries have to be created and submitted inside the swipe screen to qualify for the profit boost attached to them.

Team Picks is Underdog's prediction market app, and it's the fastest-growing part of the business. Instead of DFS player projections, you're making CFTC-regulated predictions on team outcomes — moneylines, spreads and totals. Payouts are determined by overall market sentiment, with longer shots carrying larger payouts.

I've found that the Team Picks product is just as easy to use as the DFS pick'em product: choose a team/spread/total, set an entry amount, then submit. You can also combine a team pick with at least two player picks from different teams on the same entry. These "Combo Entries" require you to have access to both the prediction market and DFS products.

If you came here looking for an Underdog sportsbook code, there isn't one. Underdog no longer even has a sportsbook.

Underdog held a sports betting license in North Carolina and pulled the plug on that operation, leaving it without a traditional sportsbook anywhere in the country.

Underdog also failed to launch its sportsbook in Missouri, likely due to its increasing emphasis on prediction markets and DFS.

Remember: Underdog is not a sportsbook. It offers DFS contests and a prediction market, which are legally distinct products. The prediction market is particularly unique, considering it is regulated on the federal level by the CFTC. Like sportsbooks, DFS games are regulated by state laws, but it's a completely different legal framework.

I looked at Apple App Store and Google Play reviews alongside my own testing to figure out how users feel about the Underdog app.

The scores are strong on both platforms, and the gap between them tells you where the rough edges are.

One small feature that I've found makes a big difference in UX: tap the heart icon to save players to a Favorites list. I tend to target the same athletes across slates, so this cuts a lot of searching out of my routine.

One of my favorite parts about Underdog is that it publishes its average results, showing what its user base actually wins and loses across fantasy contests.

The tables break out the share of entry fees and winnings going to the top 1%, 5% and 10% of users, the percentage of all players who are net winners, breakeven or net losers, and separate figures for beginners and highly experienced players. That kind of disclosure is hard to come by at other DFS apps, and it's genuinely useful before you decide how much to play.

Underdog's own beginner recommendations line up with what I'd tell a new user:

• Challenge friends in private contests
• Look for tournaments and battle royales with lower multi-entry caps
• Build Pick'em entries with fewer selections
• Try Pick'em Flex

Here's a simple breakdown of where Drafts, Pick'em, Team Picks are available, state by state:

Note: Winnings earned in an eligible state stay valid if you travel, and if you've already entered a slow or Best Ball draft, you can keep making picks in it from an ineligible state even though you can't enter new ones.

*Winding down: Underdog has shut down Drafts in Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania. New entries closed after Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL season, but already-entered drafts will play out as normal.

Whether the platform is worth your time comes down to how you like to play. If you enjoy grinding salary-cap lineups, a traditional DFS site may suit you better. If you want to be in a contest in under a minute, Underdog is built for you.

• The speed drafter: Snake drafts move fast with no salary constraints to slow you down.
• The data analyst: The Pick'em lobby rewards anyone who tracks specific stat types and wants a simple higher/lower call.
• The time-constrained fan: Best Ball is hands-off — draft once, and Underdog optimizes your lineup weekly.

Personally, I fall into the data analyst category. I love the simplicity of pick'em, as it allows me to zero in on a specific player stat. It's still a challenge but saves me from trying to factor in more influences that contribute to a team's overall performance. 

The minimum deposit is $5, which I've found to be pretty standard, but Underdog supports a wider list of methods than most DFS apps. Keep in mind that you can only withdraw to a method you've already deposited with.

Other payment considerations to keep in mind:

• Names have to match. The name on your card or wallet must match your Underdog account exactly, suffixes and Roman numerals included, or the deposit fails.
• Debit withdrawals are limited. Only bank-issued Visa and Mastercard debit cards that you've deposited with qualify. Prepaid and credit cards don't.
• Confirm within 10 minutes. After requesting a withdrawal, you'll get an SMS code on mobile or a confirmation email on web. Miss the window and the request cancels and the funds return to your balance.
• PayPal and Venmo are DFS-only. Funds deposited through either can be used for fantasy entries but not prediction markets entries.
• Bonus credit isn't withdrawable. It has to be played through and converted to winnings first.
• Trustly settlement varies. Funds show up instantly at most banks, but some take 1-3 business days.

With many iGaming companies banning credit card deposits, it's refreshing that they're here to stay with Underdog. Just make sure to use them responsibly.

Slow support is a common gripe in Underdog app store reviews, but that wasn't my experience — I got fast, clear resolutions both times I reached out (once involving a deposit issue, and once related to location verification).

You can contact Underdog's customer team via these two methods:

• Chat (fastest): In the app, tap Contact Support from the Account tab. On web, click the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner.
• Email: support@underdogsports.com, answered around the clock.

Underdog doesn't have phone support, but that's not surprising or a big deal given today's day and age.

Underdog builds its player controls directly into the app, and they're easy to find under your account settings. Even if you think you can stay in control on your own, these features are handy to build good habits.

• Deposit and entry limits: Cap what you can deposit or play daily, weekly or monthly.
• Time-outs: Pause your account for a set period.
• Self-exclusion: Lock your account and stop promotional emails and notifications.
• State-mandated limits: Massachusetts caps deposits at $1,000 per 31 days, Maryland at $5,000 and Tennessee at $2,500.
• Account safety: Reset your password periodically, monitor transaction history, and lock your account manually if you suspect access.
• Parental controls: If a minor used a parent's payment information, contact support@underdogfantasy.com immediately for closure.
